01 AN OVERVIEW
Overview
Shivalik Mercantile Co-operative Bank Ltd., originally registered in UP as a co-operative bank,was granted the license to conduct banking operations in Saharanpur district by Reserve Bankof India in September, 1997. The bank commenced operations in September, 1998. Sincethen, Shivalik Bank has come a long way, expanding its footprint in multiple states. The Banksuccessfully acquired a weak co-operative bank in Madhya Pradesh in 2010. As a result, it wasderegistered from UP Co-operative Societies Act, 1965 and was re-registered under the Multi-state Co-operative Societies Act, 2002, thereby becoming the first Multi-state Urban Co-operative Bank of Uttar Pradesh. Presently, the Bank’s area of operation extends to UttarPradesh, Delhi and parts of Madhya Pradesh and Uttrakhand.
HeadquartersThe Bank is registered in Saharanpur, with the Head-office split between Saharanpur andNoida. The Bank presently has 31 branches and 4 business correspondent offices spread overthe states of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

focusing on financial inclusion. The bank started micro-finance to help
self-help groups (SHGs). All members of the groups are women, belonging
to the marginalized sector.
Bank has connected more than 7000 SHGs comprising approximately
95,000 individuals to its micro-finance program.
