Feature Detail

Career Centre Job Postings

As the value of business analysis grows and the demand for qualified practitioners increases, the IIBA

Career Centre is the ideal location to post your job openings. It enables you to target your recruiting

to the members of IIBA. Corporate Members enjoy a discount off the published rates of our job

posting packages. These packages include three, five or ten 30-day postings.

IIBA Certification

Certification is a two-step process. Applicants apply with IIBA for the certification designation of their

choice; either the Certification of Competency in Business AnalysisTM

(CCBA®) designation or the

Certified Business Analysis ProfessionalTM

(CBAP®) designation. There is a non-refundable application

fee when a candidate submits their application. If the application is accepted, the candidate registers

to sit for the certification exam and an examination fee is due. Corporate Members receive a

discounted examination fee.

IIBA Business Analysis Competency Model

People are the most important resource in any organization. Understanding their current capability is

critical to ensuring ongoing success. The IIBA Business Analysis Competency Model identifies and

aligns the competencies required by a BA at five different levels during their BA Career. IIBA also

includes some specialty roles in the model. The core competencies identified in the BABOK ®

Guide are

split into their respective knowledge areas then the core competencies are driven to a lower level of

granularity including underlying competencies, behavioral competencies and techniques. Identified

skill gaps may be used to create professional development plans for your BAs.

Advisory

IIBA extends advisory services to corporate members who require assistance in advancing BA

practices in their organization and are seeking independent and objective advice. These servicestypically take the form of assistance with the:

a.  IIBA BA Competency Model – Once you license the competency model, IIBA can provide

implementation advice and support. We have assisted corporations in customizing the model,

implementing the model and conducted competency assessments using the model.

b.  IIBA Business Analysis Practice Assessment (BAPA) asks the five critical questions your

organization needs to answer to help it do its business better and achieve higher levels of

competency:

1.  How does business analysis work get done – which practices, processes, methodologies

and technologies are employed?

2.  What work products are produced to support the creation of the final deliverables?

3.  Who does the work? Description of the BA role, its mandate, accountabilities and

training.

4.  Where is the work performed? The organization and its people (leaders, managers of

BAs, business partners), environment (maturity of process), and culture.

5.  When does the work get done? The product development life cycle and high level

architecture.

The results of the BAPA will be analyzed and evaluated against industry practices but with anunderstanding of the realities of your organization. While most organizations desire to be “best in

class” or implement “best” practices, IIBA recommends an incremental approach – implementing

gradual changes based on a roadmap of improvement. The success for your practices is measured by

their adoption and in their ability to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

c.  Formalization of business analysis standards or the adoption of a BA Center of Excellence.

Whether you are just getting started with the process of formalizing your BA practices,

processes and standards or are embarking on the creation of a BA Center of Excellence (COE),

IIBA wants to increase your organizations success rate. Corporations have benefitted from our

past experience with these types of initiatives.

Accreditation with Endorsed Education Provider (EEP) Program

If your organization develops in-house training for your business analysts, your corporation may enroll

into the IIBA Endorsed Education Provider program and a discount will be applied to the annual

application fee as well as the one-time course endorsement fee. This means that you will be able to

get your in-house courses endorsed by IIBA so they count towards professional development hours

and re-certification of your business analysts who hold an IIBA certification.
