The first firm established, which would eventually become Inventure Design, was founded on April 1, 1997. Principal Jim O’Neill created a company offering interior architecture and design services with the skills of a large, well-established firm while maintaining personalized attention. Utilizing knowledge gained from years of association with larger firms, the new company would offer cutting edge innovation with direct focus on attention to detail.

The emergence of an interior architecture firm with sophisticated design talent was ideal for the ever increasing corporate-type businesses in Houston, each looking for the personal attention that this new firm would provide. The creative success of each project led to frequent referrals, and the firm quickly grew.

In 1998, the firm opened a new office designed by its three employees, functioning as a showcase to their talents. That same year, a relationship was established with FKP Architects. The two firms began working on Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH), leading the previously corporate focused firm intohealthcare design.

1999 brought the incorporation of five new employees, an additional principal and an office expansion. In 2002, the firm was presented with the Business Week/Architectural Record “Architecture is Good Business” Design Award

for their work on the TCH project, the first awarded to a healthcare project. Though corporate interiors still represented 90% of their work, the TCH success led to a project withM.D. Anderson’s Cancer Center. As a result, the size of the firm and the amount of work continued to grow.

By 2004, the firm had grown to 18 employees and began working outside of Houston. The firm’s continued success led to a joint venture/merger with the interiors department of FKP Architects in 2005. With this merger, the firm changed names to O’Neill Hill and Associates (OHA). OHA began 2008 with the departure of the co-principal and decided to begin the next year as a new firm.

In 2009, OHA re-launched as Inventure Design, complete with a new brand identity and an infusion of enthusiasm. Inventure Design retained all of OHA’s associates and continued to add talent to their high-profile team.

The team has expanded into a studio of 28, including two additional principals- Michael Kopecky and Raymond Romero. Today, Inventure Design can boast an 87% return rate on clientele, which includes 10 of Houston’s top 100 financially ranked companies. This success created a need to open offices in Dallas, Texas, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Nashville, Tennessee to continue establishing itself in the industry as the ‘go-to’ interior design firm in the region.

YOUR TEAMInventure Design firmly believes in supporting community-based endeavors that have a local presence. Last year, we contributed an in-kind donation to the United Way Agency by building The Center, a facility dedicated to serving adults with developmental disabilities in Houston, Texas. Because the UWA is a not-for-profit facility, Inventure Design provided design services to maintain the strict budget.

Inventure Design supports various causes throughout the year in many difference facets, including the AIA, The Movember Foundation, Villages of The Woodlands, The Wounded Warrior Project, The Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce, JDRF, Memorial Hermann, Texas Children’s Hospital, The Epilepsy Foundation of Texas, The Houston Food Bank, New Hope Housing and many more.

The Houston Furniture Bank is an in-kind donation center established to provide furniture to families in need. Inventure Design donates furniture and equipment to the organization on a frequent basis, knowing that we are helping the families in our community.

Inventure Design employees also volunteer annually for the Herman Miller We Care Children’s Holiday Event. We Care unites the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and interior design firms in creating crafts that underprivileged children can gift to family and friends for the holidays.

We share in donating to causes that our employees are passionate about and encourage them to request funding for their charities and sponsorships. There is no annual cap to our monetary donations and all employees are welcome to present their requests for donation from Inventure Design.

Our employees are encouraged to join multiple organizations either as a member or a leader. Examples of current employee participation groups include: AIA Houston, AIA Houston CAH, IIDA, USGBC- Texas Gulf Coast Chapter (LEED), TDLR, ASID - Texas Gulf Coast Chapter, RDA, IFMA, SDP, EDAC, TAID, AMA, ACRP, CoreNet, HYPE, NAIOP and CREW. Inventure Design’s employee involvement in the aforementioned organizations establish our drive to contributing to the Design and A/E/C profession.

OUR TEAM IN THE COMMUNITYInventure Design is a

full-service, client-focused team of professionals that use technology to visually communicate our projects.

Using an individualized approach towards each project, we create strategic and responsive design.

VISUALIZATION

The last phase of inVisioning is the use of a tablet-based application that allows the client to have the final working drawings and images linked to the actual CAD-based information model. This app gives the client and the contractor the ability to access a complete set of current drawings with the touch of a finger. Using touch based controls, the app allows simple navigation around and through the workspace.

InVisioning was developed to help our clients with the design process throughout the life-cycle of a project. Through the use of object based CAD software, we are working in 3D at all times, even during preliminary Test-Fits. As a result, we are able to show our clients how the space will look in 3D at a stage when decisive decision making will quicken the overall process.

As the preliminary drawings progress, we are able to modify and update the 3D views as changes are requested to allow the client to walk-thru the space and view updates in real time.

When the design becomes finalized, we use a software package in-house that gives a photo-realistic view of the design and implements the actual finishes. This powerful software, used by Sony and Pixar, allows clients to actually ‘see’ the final space.

PEOPLE

PROJECTS PROSPERITY

Our design approach creates enduring and healthy spaces for people and our planet.

PEOPLEWe do this because of the people. Development significantly impacts people and communities, and it can be a powerful catalyst. We can create designs that enhance the relationship between humans and their environment.

PROJECTSWe do this through our projects. Design is the tool we use to underline our commitment to doing the right thing. We thank our clients for the opportunity to use their projects as our sandbox and are excited about what we learn together.

PROSPERITYWe do this for the betterment of all. Prosperity goes beyond profitability and looks at more than the financial aspects of a project or initiative. By taking into account the human and community impacts as additional measurements of success, a broader return on investment can be found.

We design spaces with the principles of social, economic and ecological sustainability. The built environment is at an exciting threshold as new technologies emerge at a rapid rate. Our team stays on the cutting edge of how to push design to achieve healthy, coherent, people-based spaces for our clients. Simply put, sustainable design responds to a goal of being respectful of resources, both natural and economic.CATERPILLAR/SOLAR TURBINES HOUSTON HEADQUARTERS:

ARAMCOSIZE: 37,000 sf BUDGET: $67/sf SERVICES: full interiors, furniture & project

management YEAR COMPLETED: 2012

This project was a direct result of the previous work done by Inventure Design for Empyrean Benefit Solutions in the Aramco building. We were asked to design Aramco’s new office space after Aramco Services’ president viewed our work in the space and our past project portfolio.

Inventure Design agreed to act as the lead in a design-build project to monitor quality control by hiring all the

engineers, contractors and subcontractors and then starting the project immediately.

The six week schedule included relocating all Aramco employees off the floor prior to start of demolition.

We also specified, purchased and managed all new furniture.

ARMADILLO FINANCIAL, JOHNSON LAW GROUP

Inventure Design created two separate identities for Armadillo Financial and Johnson Law Group, who share the top floor of a first generation space in Kirby Grove. The overarching theme of dressing up industrial design features into a chic atmosphere included exposed structures, polished concrete floors, painted steel and raw aluminum. Wood panels in warm hues are strategically placed behind the reception area to create a more welcoming first impression of the office.

Offices, work spaces, meeting rooms and IT closets are kept separate while common areas such as the mezzanine, board room and break room are shared between the companies. The mezzanine was created as a way to utilize the tall 22’ ceilings and the view of the Texas Medical Center, while also adding an additional 1,000 usf. The design included refurbished used furniture, excluding the new reception desk, as a practical way to decrease costs without diminishing the overall aesthetic.

ASCEND PERFORMANCE MATERIALS

The client wanted to focus on congregation throughout the space. The large circular conference room was created as a destination for the entire space to use as a communal atmosphere. The installation of new technology in the

space gives them the ability to adapt and reconfigure, regardless if a conference room is available for meetings. Incorporating their standard colors into the design of the office space helps reinforce their brand.

AVEVA

The challenging renovation of Aveva required Inventure Design to direct a redesign that allowed the company to continue to work throughout the process.

To create efficiency in their open-office setup, the existing cubicles were expanded into an organized system of workstations that fit their tight budget. The workstations were moved away from the windows to create a walkway

around the space and provide small huddle areas with marker boards for collaboration.

The previously underutilized break room underwent a makeover that included deconstructing the walls to reconfigure the space into a bright and open meeting area. Nearby, a series of conference rooms were designed to improve dialog and communication between employees.

BLUE SPRUCE CAPITAL CORPORATION

Blue Spruce Capital Corporation retained Inventure Design for a second time to assist in their relocation to a new office space. As a private financial services firm with offices in Colorado and California, Blue Spruce wanted an elegant space appropriate for their professional clientele. Inventure completed the interiors, graphics, furniture services, and project management for the move.

The main concept was to have a corporate reception and conference room with a polished aesthetic. A more casual workspace with a breakroom and wine bar bisected the office space with the area opening up to workstations and offices in the back. The expansive breakroom was inspired by restaurants the client visited throughout the design process.

CATERPILLAR/SOLAR TURBINES HOUSTON HEADQUARTERS

The Caterpillar and Solar Turbines’ office space consolidation transitioned employees out of a traditional 20+ year old oil and gas industry office layout and into a modern, open work environment. The main design challenge was to create a compatible scheme to merge the two brands as one inspired presence throughout the

space. As a projected LEED Silver project, an emphasis on sustainability was a prime focus. The design was to encourage flexible wok areas between floors and create a unified long-term office space internally and externally to support the corporate brand. The project’s functional design allows for a productive and innovative workspace.

CEMEX

Cemex, a global building materials company, selected Inventure Design to design their expansive new office interiors in Houston, Texas. The space needed to possess many elements, including brand reiteration, reduced hierarchy, conference and huddle rooms throughout and a tour path for visitors. The most challenging design element was uniting multiple floors through an internal staircase installation.

The space is open and bright, yet still provides privacy. All private offices have some glass components, and office groupings are interrupted by workstations to bring light further into the space. Inventure Design used a white and gray color scheme, integrating occasional accent colors to create energy and vibrancy. Exposed concrete

floors, textural stone details, wood elements, and polished surfaces were used to further emphasize brand identity. The break room was intended to be used by the entire company, and encourage communication and socialization. It also serves as a collaborative team area. Cemex frequently uses conference rooms, and required several rooms in varying sizes throughout.

Sustainability is a key pillar of Cemex’s values and played a large role in the design of the space. Recycle centers located in copy areas and break rooms encourage employee participation in green practices. Inventure used sustainable materials throughout, and utilized refurbished furniture where possible. Cemex is currently pursuing LEED certification.

CREDERA

Credera, a full-service management consulting, user experience and technology solutions firm, selected Inventure Design to create their new offices in Houston, Texas. The client sought to have a space that blended the current looks of the Dallas, TX headquarters office and the newly renovated Denver, CO office, but maintain a Houston vibe. The space consists of open, collaborative work areas, offices that provide privacy for specialized team work or phone calls and one main conference room for private meetings.

The space features a unique corner view, and maximizing this along with natural light was a main priority. The end result was an industrial, yet clean and minimalist design with flowing light throughout. Credera’s company color, red, was used to create visual interest in a wall detail in the main work room, as well as throughout the space via the furniture.

CRYSTAL & COMPANY

This insurance company wanted to transition from their traditional office layout to an open-plan concept. The reception area served as the focal point of the space, while the glass fronted conference room and company logo were the backdrop to the entryway. The client also valued a design that provided as much natural light as possible throughout the office.

Inventure Design placed offices in the center using glass separation to retain transparency and put workstations around the perimeter to receive the most light. Huddle rooms at both ends of the office area served as alternate solutions to the main conference room in the reception area. The huddle areas created new ways for the employees to communicate and work together.

DAIKIN INDUSTRIES, LTD.

Daikin, a global air conditioning manufacturing company, enlisted Inventure Design to enhance their customer-facing space in Waller, TX after determining it needed more of a presence for customers and manufacturers visiting the facility. The focus was on the front lobby, the conference center, and making sure graphics were incorporated to be part of the building. Clean lines and simplicity were key to the design as well as a focus on the foundation of the company - air. To achieve this, the design team created a wavy wall to mimic the fluidity of wind.

Given Daikin’s strong emphasis on employee satisfaction, another important feature was the employee wall which displayed employee photos, company goals, community events, and inspirational quotes from management. Visitors and employees alike could walk through the corridor to stay invested in everything to do with Daikin. The client also wanted to dedicate a portion of the space to the Waller community and asked children from local elementary schools to submit artwork on being green to be displayed in the lobby.

DESIGN HIVE

Inventure Design was selected as one of four architectural and design firms to design an innovative spec suite showcasing the Office of the Future for Brookfield Properties.

Inventure Design’s space was designed to give the user a variety of options to support the ever changing corporate work environment. The overarching concept for the space was derived from the theory of yin and yang. Contradictory opposites are combined throughout

the space to create an inseparable bond between work and personal life. The serpentine work bar weaves in and out along punched openings to create a sense of balance while providing interesting spaces for work. Black and white are used in opposition between each side of the office to signify the fusion between open collaborative zones and closed private zones. As the user experiences the space, the balance between these elements creates a sense of oneness with the work environment.

DOWNUNDER GEOSOLUTIONS

This geosciences company wanted a high-end office that emphasized their corporate brand within a contemporary design. The space is divided into a public zone and private work area. The public zone includes the reception area, break room, training room and meeting rooms. Inventure Design created a custom reception desk and ceiling inspired by the company’s hexagonal logo.

The break room serves as a gathering area with an in-house barista and custom espresso machine. The private work area, separated by glass doors from the main space, contains the workstations, IT server room and a hoteling area. The server room, an important feature to showcase to DUG’s clients, has two large cooling towers that were provided for the computer room with server racks submerged in mineral oil tanks.

EMPYREAN

As a health care benefit and administration company, our client requested that their space reflect a high energy environment, intended to improve company morale. Our team used bold flooring and wall colors to enliven the space and multiple fabrics to help segregate different departments.

As a client showcase, the upgraded receptionarea featured televisions for company news and promoted general knowledge sharing. The wood slats in the reception were

also a functional design element that concealed the power poles in the main space. The main conference room housed a custom table that was technologically integrated with controllable LED lighting. Additional conference rooms were glass enclosed with a custom film which reinforced the company’s brand and provided access to natural light. Overlooking the 150-person customer service area, a raised floor control center was installed to track customer calls and load level resources, as well as provide immediate access to the project managers.

ENERGY TRANSFER PARTNERS

Inventure Design worked with Energy Transfer Partners to redesign their first floor security desk, create display cases for their extensive historical archives and provide an interesting solution for lobby seating. The goal of the project was to design each piece in such a way that it blended with the existing architecture while still standing as a showpiece for the lobby.

The security desk not only needed to be a beautiful focal point for the building entrance, but also provide functionality and organization for the security team. Notable characteristics are the hand-picked Calacatta Gold Marble and the backlight blue cube that acts as a beacon for the three main entrances of the building.

The display cases were designed to highlight a rotating collection of pieces for visitors and employees to enjoy. Each case was clad in mahogany veneer, tying them back

to the existing lobby paneling. Mirrored blue glass was also introduced to coordinate with the corporate logo. Lobby seating was achieved by a custom pipe bench, designed to mirror the milestone pipe sections displayed in the lobby and to symbolize the company’s business.

Additionally, Inventure Design completely renovated 2 full-floors in the 1955 bank building as part of Energy Transfer’s corporate consolidation. The plans for each floor were developed to suite the needs of the Operations Group that was relocating, while ensuring that the floor plates maximized real estate.

The finish palette was developed in coordination with Energy Transfer Partners’ finish standards. Window film and graphic wallcovering were utilized as way-finding and to add life to interior office spaces. The design for level 2 + 3 sustains fluidity with the rest of the building.

ESSENTIA ADVISORS

Essentia Advisors, a consulting firm headquartered in Houston, Texas, wanted a fresh, open design plan for their new office space downtown. Inspired by Inventure Design’s previous work on Design Hive, Essentia brought on the firm to create a similar work environment. The design plan included a conference room, open workstations, offices, a breakroom, and a gaming area with a putting green for employees to unwind.

Wanting to differentiate the communal space from the work areas, the walls and millwork were created to be monochromatic and darker than the other walls, with blue incorporated in the backsplash. To give the office the feel of an open ceiling, the design team punched through the ceiling in the break room and gaming area and dropped in large pendant lighting.

FREEPORT LNG EXPANSION

The Freeport LNG expansion projects combined the existing design with a fresh new look. The original Level 50 Suite was expanded to encapsulate the entire penthouse floor. The Level 43 Suite was designed to link the two floors together. New perimeter offices with high windows allow for daylight to reach the open work areas. The new centralized break room creates a large meeting area for all major activities. In addition, an executive conference room was also designed.

At the entry, dark wood projects into the main hallway and mimics the wood paneling at Level 50’s reception. Level 43 utilizes high windows to allow daylight to enter the whole workspace. It also has a centralized break room; however, this break room is visually broken into three huddle zones: the kitchen, lounge area and open conference room. The rest of the space opens to a workstation area that has a rendering across the entire back wall of their terminal port in Freeport.

GALWAY GROUP

In an effort to change the client’s culture, the design focused on modifying the office to a completely open concept plan. The office space opens to an exposed ceiling, a large break room and collaborative workstations. All perimeter offices have partial walls and no office fronts, which maintains

a team atmosphere and improves communication. The workstations have acoustical clouds that create defined zones and are organized by the centralized copy and fax room. Huddle rooms were created at the back of the space for small team meetings and concentrated work.

HUNTSMAN CORPORATION

Headquartered at Waterway Plaza One in The Woodlands, Huntsman is anticipating future growth of approximately 800 additional employees. Inventure Design was tasked with renovating the entire 20,000 sf first floor, which includes new building lobby finishes, the receptionist area, a conference center and the employee

cafe and lounge. Our design concept was based on creating a strong presence in the building to represent Huntsman’s brand. The progressive updates are consistent with Huntsman’s image: light, bright, open and modern. Employee amenities were also enhanced to attract and retain talented employees.

HYDRO GULF OF MEXICO

The space included offices, executive suites, a visualization lab and an auditorium. Hydro envisioned a design that celebrated light and encouraged openness. They wanted a superior space that promoted their

collaborative efforts and focused less on the singular. The space also needed to convey the professional nature of the company and their ability to become a powerhouse in the United States.

INFUSION

The goals of the project were to relocate the existing Houston offices and to redefine the local image. Infusion strategically moved to the same building as one of their largest clients, and created an inviting space that served as a backdrop to their direct marketing efforts. The design involved both offices and open workstations. It

also included a relaxed coffee lounge and space for the programming team to unwind with ping-pong and video games. Their marketing is centered around a highly flexible and interactive lab. The design took inspiration from Infusion’s New York and London offices but with a Houston spin.

INTL FCSTONE

INTL FCStone, a global trading company involved in a variety of markets, brought on Inventure Design to help them upgrade their Houston office. The company wanted an open office and breakroom concept that would align with their vision statement of “We open markets.” They needed a space that was inviting for employees with multiple televisions typical of trader spaces.

The project involved moving the conference room, updating the flooring, and improving the paint throughout. The design team was able to work with the time, size, and budget constraints of the project to produce a space that allows the company to continue to grow in the Houston trading market.

INTRUA FINANCIAL

Intrua Financial, an independent wealth management firm, wanted to move from a dated office space to the Greenway Plaza area. Taking their clientele into consideration, the client wanted to upgrade to a more elegant office and brought Inventure Design on to design a professional and dynamic space.

Inspiration for the design was derived from the company’s logo. An enlarged version was emphasized in the lobby,

greeting clients as they stepped off the elevator. The design team also integrated the logo’s sharp angles and soft curves and pulled from its muted colors with pops of brighter ones. Glass fronts, open floors, and polished concrete were incorporated throughout the space. A requirement of the space was a conference room that could open up to be a gathering area for everyone during the firm’s big annual event, and this was a focal point of the design.

INVENTURE DESIGN

The building at 3118 Richmond Ave. is an original Gerald Hines structure from the 1960’s that was designed and built as a single-tenant building. Purchased by Houston-based Inventure Design Group, the building had been heavily damaged by Hurricane Ike in 2008. During the renovation, the owner wanted to maintain the 1960’s aesthetics.

The nearly $1 million renovation took the building back to its shell with the replacement of all major systems and upgrade to current codes. All glass and glazing were replaced and newly tinted, insulated windows were added to provide an energy-efficient envelope that let in 80% of the natural light but rejected 70% of the heat. New distributed HVAC systems allowed individual control

and the restrooms and an updated lobby with terrazzo stairs were restored. Energy-efficient LED lighting and high-speed fiber optics were also added.

The most distinguishing features of the project are the added support columns and orange beams to match the original orange-glazed brick on the exterior of the building. The vibrant color of the beams is used as a wayfinding method for clients coming to visit the space for the first time. The color of the bricks and beam also tie into Inventure’s logo, allowing it to brand the space on both the interior and exterior. Inventure Design won the 2016 Preservation Houston Good Brick Award for Restoration of our space and the 2014 HBJ Landmark Award for Rehabilitation/Renovation.

ITT

Intermodal Tank Transport began their company in a second-hand space over 20 years ago and acquired adjacent areas as the company grew. When the opportunity to build-out and brand an office of their own became a reality, the client requested that Inventure Design create a layout that allowed for an increased team atmosphere.

An open workspace was utilized to enhance communication and collaboration. Bright accents in orange, blue and green were paired with hexagonal backsplash and carpet tiles to create an inviting and vibrant space. The client wanted the breakroom and lounge to be important features to encourage employee interaction.

KEMIRA

Kemira’s lab space was developed in conjunction with their new high-end office. The office was made to feel open and bright by maximizing daylight, and the space showcases unique film patterns made to provide privacy within exterior offices, while also adding a pop of color with blue and yellow accents.

The design of the lab space was tasked with maintaining the same level of finish as the office. The same shades of blue and yellow used in the office carried over into the relatively small space to create an open and light atmosphere. The ceiling was removed to give height and volume while countering the effects of incorporating equipment and lab benching systems.

KLX ENERGY SERVICES

Inventure Design created a progressive, open office concept that promoted collaboration across departments for KLX Energy Services.

The 1,700 SF break room offers a family style dining table, semi-private seating booths and a large sectional sofa for watching shuffleboard tournaments. The break room, which is a central hub to the design of the office, incorporates an unusual 500-pound pipe that was transformed into a

customized chandelier and anchored into the ceiling. Low horizon workstations and glass office fronts are combined to give the employees a 360-degree view of Houston.

The oil fields that KLX serves acted as inspiration for the color palette and finish selections used throughout the space. The furniture and graphics combined with the tailored color palette ensured a cohesive design of the office.

LLOG EXPLORATION HOUSTON

Inventure Design was asked to tie the existing LLOG Covington, La. culture into the new LLOG Houston, Tx. office without completely mimicking the space. The design concept of giving employees access to community spaces

with natural lighting was a major emphasis in their design concept. Additionally, the same design cues taken from the business exploration of stratigraphy were implemented into the space with reveals and floating planes.

LOCAL OFFICE

Local Office, a co-working space in West University, provides residents a place to work, play, and build their network. The project is a mixed use, commercial rehabilitation of a former light industrial services building. Changes to the building, derived from the inside-out, demonstrate the urban-scale impact of Inventure Design’s interior design, reflecting trending changes in the nature of work and the workplace.

Adding light into the space was key to the project’s success. Therefore, large sections of tilt wall were removed- and skylights added- in areas derived from the space plan to transform the space from dark to light. Profitability was also a primary consideration in the layout of the space. The solution was to create a plan that blends openness with a

viable density of workstations. To achieve this, the community spaces are concentrated towards the front of the building, flowing seamlessly into the open stairwell. In addition, the design team utilized local West University artists to stencil the floors and add graphics throughout the space.

The interior design was inspired by the 1920’s history of the area. Many of the West University streets were named after well known authors during that time, and this became one of the driving factors behind the look and feel of the space. A library was incorporated into the community breakroom, and the furnishings were selected to give the user a sense of stepping back in time to a 1920’s bookstore.

MARKEL - DALLAS

Markel, a holding company for insurance and investment operations globally, called on Inventure Design after our work on the SureTec headquarters relocation. Based in Virginia with an international reach, Markel wanted their Dallas office to remain consistent with their branding standards.

Our design team chose finishes that would blend with the other Markel locations to create that sense of cohesion and brand stability. Warm tones and residential-style lighting give a comfortable yet polished look to the space.

MARUBENI ITOCHU

Inventure Design provided a modern design for the Houston office relocation of Marubeni-Itochu. With an emphasis on updating the client’s local image, the workplace was transformed into a brighter open office floorplan. A relaxed break room, a coffee bar and huddle

areas created a space that reflected the client’s request for the office to enhance collaboration and improve the employee experience. The design was influenced by the company’s Japanese heritage and resulted in a clean, calming space.

MARINE WELL CONTAINMENT COMPANY

This deepwater emergency response company needed a space to serve as a headquarters and main operations center. It required the ability to test, train and respond to events. The design needed to mirror the readiness aspect of the company, including integration of full audio and video conference capabilities within all conference rooms and the operations center.

The operations center was also planned with the ability to adapt to different needs and uses of the space. It

can handle up to 80 operators for an emergency drill, or the room can be divided into smaller groups for daily conference meetings. In addition to the focus on practicality, preparedness and mobility within the design, the aesthetics plays off of MWCC being an underwater based business. The aqua theme is prevalent throughout the reception area, which features a 10’ high by 16’ wide bubble wall. The privacy film on the office exteriors features images of offshore drilling rigs while subtle punches of blue from their logo are incorporated throughout the space.

ODFJELL

Odfjell is a leading company in the global market for transportation and storage of bulk liquid chemicals, acids, edible oils and other specialty products. Inventure Design was hired to create an open work space with access to natural light and views in their Houston office relocation project. In order to create this effect, glass office partitions

were installed in the space. The design and color palette selected reflects the deep sea transportation portion of their business practice. Design concepts were presented to the client in 3D renderings that helped to reduce the time spent on the selection process. The result was a beautiful space and a satisfied client.

PATTERN ENERGY

Pattern Energy is a leading independent power company focused on renewable energy. When designing their new space, Pattern Energy was able to identify key needs and wants while integrating strategies from their other North American offices. The space needed to celebrate culture, drive efficiency, promote teamwork, and increase employee health and well being. Through careful programming and visioning sessions, Inventure Design was able to help brand Pattern Energy’s space in accordance with their culture and mission.

Pattern Energy also took on the challenge of pursuing LEED Certification. Light, ergonomics, material selection, and energy-use reductions were crucial elements that propelled the project to a LEED Gold rating for corporate interiors. The space highlights energy and a commitment to do better, and to work better.

PATTERSON SHERIDAN

This law firm, specializing in contract law, needed to transition into a more open and light feeling space from their old offices. Taking cues from offices in California, the owner requested that all employees work on a single floor, with transparency being a key factor.

To entice interns to sign-on as full time employees and increase overall retention, Patterson & Sheridan installed new furniture with height adjustable desks, created break-out spaces for collaboration and placed the break room along the exterior windows for city views.

The desired openness and visibility design effect was achieved by installing an all DIRTT solution. DIRTT glass fronts, clear-story windows and sidelights between offices attributed to a bright and vibrant work area. DIRTT walls in the breakout area integrated marker boards and TV’s, giving the firm flexibility to reconfigure the space as needed. Reducing the size of each office resulted in a smaller footprint. The DIRTT wall system allows the firm to adjust the office sizes in the future, as needed. The overall palette was kept neutral with pops of color and contrasting dark wood, giving the space a modern yet professional feel.

PATTERSON-UTI ENERGY

Patterson-UTI, an onshore drilling company that services the United States and Canada, needed more square footage to accommodate its growth. The new 35,000 square foot space includes a substantial conference room, a breakroom with varying seating options and an open concept, collaborative workspace.

Inventure Design created a space that is bright, minimal and fresh. We took inspiration from the company logo; an oil derrick on the horizon. This design inspiration is seen in the exaggerated ceiling and wall features, strong horizontal elements and lighting selections. Crisp pops of red are strategically placed throughout the space, providing further brand identification.

Stena Bulk, one of the world’s leading tanker shipping companies, collaborated with Inventure Design to create a stimulating work environment in their Houston office. As a company with Swedish roots built on innovation and performance, the client wanted a space that would reflect their heritage, culture, and brand. The design team incorporated brass accents, leather details, and the subtle use of color in the concept to tie back into the brand.

Custom display cases were designed to showcase the company’s fleet models. The design revolved around an open office concept with low-horizon, height-adjustable desks to support collaboration and communication between teams. Furnishings in the break room were selected to be functional yet casual in order to provide respite to employees throughout the workday.

TESCO CORPORATION

This oilfield services company restructured to respond to the ever-changing oil and gas market. With corporate innovation at the forefront, the company wanted a “hot-desking” approach for their design concept. Staff, managers, and even the executive officers do not have assigned desks or offices. As teams or projects change, the office is designed to respond.

The hot-desking approach keeps the office format fluid.

Incorporating glass fronts at the offices and conference rooms throughtout brings in natural daylight deep within the space.

The design challenge was to brand the space without over-emphasizing the logo. The use of corporate colors throughout the interior reinforces the Tesco brand. Complimentary colors and textures were implemented to create a contemporary, light and vibrant workspace.

VERIFORCE

Veriforce, a leading compliance software provider, selected Inventure Design to create their new space in The Woodlands, TX. Veriforce had recently developed new brand graphic standards, and needed Inventure’s assistance in integrating them into the overall design. Inspiration for the space was taken from the shapes and colors in their new logo. Veriforce’s specific brand Pantone colors were used throughout the space.

The design featured a large training room that opens into the break room, and can also serve as event space. A significant amount of glass was used in order to maximize light throughout the office. The end result was a bright and bold space that ensures company efficiency.
