• Summer 2007 floods• 55000 properties flooded
across England• High proportion of surface
water flooding
•Pitt Review recommended “local authorities lead the co-ordination of flood risk in their area”

• Cornwall Council are now the Lead Local Flood Authority
• Lead for flood risk from surface run-off, groundwater & Ordinary Watercourses
New Role:To develop a local flood risk management strategy
• Opportunity for communities to input to local flood & coastal risk management

Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment (PFRA)
• Submitted June 2011. Resubmit June 2017• Assessment of information on flooding
