Reporting to the Manager Transformation and Technology, the Coordinator IT Operations is
responsible for the leadership and support of the Information Technology Operations team, to
ensure the effective and efficient delivery of information technology services.
Strategically manage the IT systems and
applications to ensure they are operating at
optimum levels at all times and are
continually refined to improve the
performance of the organisation.
Develop and maintain strong relationships
with key internal and external stakeholders
(including executive and management)
through consultation, communication and IT
Leadership.
Manage all IT software licensing,
telecommunications and IT managed service
contract to ensure the effective and efficient
delivery of services and meet business
needs.
Delivery of data warehousing to ensure all data within legacy systems is maintained and
accessible.
Provide effective staff leadership to the IT
Operations team and ensure adequate
resources are available at all times to meet
organisational demands.
Key responsibility areas
Provide a strategic project management
role in the design, planning and
implementation of IT Operations projects.
Strategically manage risks associated with
cyber-security, data protection and business
continuity.
Ensure compliance throughout the
organisation on all relevant IT policies and
procedures.
Develop, implement and monitor IT
Strategy.
Other duties as directed within the skills
and abilities of a position at this level.

The incumbent is responsible and accountable
for:
Lead and coordinate the provision of
functions including IT Operations services
for Bass Coast Shire Council.
Ensure our processes and systems are
developed, reviewed and monitored to ensure they are customer focused and meet
our customer needs.
Accountability and extent of authority
Create agility within the business to respond
and adapt to changes within the business
environment.
Monitor and report regularly on financial
and business plan performance and ensure
full statutory, regulatory and policy
compliance in all areas of responsibility.
Contribute to emergency management
activities when required and directed by the
General Manager.
Judgement and decision making
The incumbent must be able to:
Solve complex problems in a demanding
operating environment and contribute to
strategy and policy development for the
Division and Council.
Make decisions on all matters which are the responsibility of the position, provided that
these are within delegated authority, legislative
requirements, established policy or recognised
standards.
Make decisions that may be outside established
processes.
Specialist Skills and Knowledge
The incumbent must be able to demonstrate:
Ability to keep abreast of changes in the field of
Information Technology and communications.
Provide professional advice to internal
departments on changes and trends in
Information Technology.
Monitor and report on budget and business
plans and ensure full policy compliance.
Experience in the development of tender
specifications and contract management.

Qualifications and experience
The incumbent requires:
A tertiary qualification in Information
Services or related discipline.
Substantial experience in the area of
Information Technology or Business
Improvement with demonstrated ability to
solve complex problems in a technical and
service delivery environment.
Demonstrated leadership qualities with
proven results leading and motivating a team
of technical experts to achieve high
productivity and successful task delivery.
Strong negotiation and contract
management skills.
High level project management skills.

Selection will be based on the following key selection criteria; however reference will also be
made to other listed skills, knowledge and attributes as required in the position description.
A tertiary qualification in Information
Services or related discipline.
Strong leadership skills with demonstrated
ability to lead and develop people.
Proven experience in the development of
tender specifications and contract
management.
High level of project management
experience.
Performance Criteria
Performance criteria will be developed within the first three months of appointment, recorded and
reviewed in accordance with Council’s Performance Development Policy and Framework.
