Convert and save your Blackboard Collaborate recordings

This process may be completed using either Firefox or Google Chrome as your browser. Please note: the process will change slightly depending

on your browser.

Steps 1 through 7 look the same in either browser.

1. Navigate to the Blackboard Collaborate page in your course, and click on Recordings.

2. Locate the recording you wish to convert and save.

3. Select the type of file you wish to convert the recording to, and click on that blue Convert link.

Choosing MP3 will record Audio ONLY; to record audio and video, choose MP4.

4. Allow the recording to convert. The longer the recording, the more time it will take to record.

A 3-hour class session recording could take up to a few days to fully convert, so you’ll need to schedule time to finish the

process later.

5. When the conversion process is complete, the “Converting” notation will turn into a play button.

6. Click the play button to open a screen from which you can either play or download the recording.

7. Your converted session will appear with the option to play or download.

Steps 8 through 12

In Firefox:

8. Click the download icon to open a dialog box from which you can open or save the recording.

9. Choose Save File and click OK to save the file in your Downloads folder, accessible through the blue arrow in the upper right

corner of your screen, and click on the arrow to open the folder.

10. Click on the folder icon to the right of your recording title in the download list to open the Downloads folder.

11. Open the folder into which you want to store this downloaded recording.

12. Cut and paste the recording file into the new folder. Then you can rename the recording file with the name of your choice!

Steps 8 through 11

In Google Chrome:

8. Click the download icon to create a downloaded file in the lower left corner of your screen.

9. Right click the file and choose “Show In Folder” to open the Downloads folder.

10. Open the folder into which you want to store this downloaded recording.

11. Cut and paste the recording file into the new folder. Then you can rename the recording file with the name of your choice!
