Introduction

The FCA has introduced a system of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training for all members of the Franchise community.

CPD is designed to elevate members’ professional standards and reputation in franchising and to the broader business community. It will enhance skills and knowledge on an on-going basis, become fundamental to professional development, help meet and exceed client expectations and provide a greater competitive advantage.

You must be certified by the FCA Franchise Academy as having completed the required annual CPD points to retain your FCA Franchise Professional classification.

It’s easy to comply with CPD requirements. CPD points are accrued through a range of courses, activities and events offered by the FCA, the FCA Franchise Academy and other training providers.

FCA Continuing Professional Development

The FCA CPD program, in conjunction with the Franchise Academy was established in 2003 to meet the growing demands for specialised franchise training. It offers a range of comprehensive programs aimed at improving education and developing people within the sector.

The FCA Franchise Academy provides a mark of distinction through the following four benefits:

1. Franchise Knowledge: Educational opportunities help gain in-depth insights into every aspect of the Australian franchising sector.

2. Industry Recognition: The classifications of FCA Franchise Professional indicate that you have complied with the CPD requirements. Relevant post nominals can be used on stationery, business cards and all other forms of address.

3. Franchise Networking: As a participant of the CPD program you benefit from the opportunities of ongoing communication with other franchise professionals and FCA members.

4. Professional Standing: FCA Franchise Professional classifications show that the person is committed to franchising and continuing education in order to meet the franchise sector’s challenges.

The CPD program, along with the Franchise Academy, can fine tune career development by offering education programs geared specifically to the unique requirements of the franchising sector FCA Franchise Professionals are provided with the opportunity to learn, grow professionally and reach a recognised standard of excellence within the franchise community.

What is Continuing Professional Development ?

• Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is on going professional education in the franchise sector. It is designed to maintain and improve your technical knowledge, professional and management skills and to ensure you are adhering to industry “best practice” standards at all times.

• CPD underpins and supports skills of existing and new entrants to the franchise sector and keeps you up-to-date with the latest legislation and industry practices, tailored to different specialist areas and levels of experience.

• CPD members are required to attain 20 points per year through a range of educational activities to maintain their classification and to be able to progress to higher level classifications.

Purposes of CPD:• Address the need for on going learning.

• Maintain and improve technical knowledge and professional skills.

• Provide the franchise market with confidence in the professional standards of FCA members.

• Elevate the public perception of franchising through improved professional standards.

• Gain recognition for FCA members who meet professional “best practice standards”.
