THE FUTURE OF SCHERDEL 32
We want to remain an independent
family-run Company.
(from the guiding principles)
THE SCHERDELFAMILY
The SCHERDELfamily: A big word for a big success. What bonds our corporate family together? Maybe the fact that, at SCHERDEL, people come first, before all technical products. But maybe it is also the pe-ace of mind of being an active part of a big long-established family-run company.
Our focus on good cooperation with ample room for personal development gives our worldwide family of employees its distinctive character that is highly appreciated by our customers, suppliers and partners in metal forming and many other areas of expertise. Our success as an international owner-run family busi-ness shows this, making it clear that our strength lies in the people that are part of the SCHERDELfamily.
Since the beginning of its entrepreneurial activities the SCHERDELfamily has left its mark as a spring tech-nology leader in Franconia and later in a total of 29 locations worldwide. Today, it is still our goal to be successful in the long term and generate worldwide growth with a committed international team. Since the fall of 2013, the new management team, too, has embarked on a forward-loo-king path. With Marcus Bach, Maximilian von Waldenfels and Christian Schiener, it is the fourth generation that is in charge of our family-run company rich in tradition.

In 1890 Margarethe and Sigmund Scherdel founded
the Scherdel & Weiß wire-drawing mill in Marktredwitz
together with Friedrich Weiß.
Max, Bernhard and Rudi Scherdel, the sons of the founding
family, gradually took over management of the company from
1934, providing for significant technological innovations.
Karl Scherdel, their cousin, provided great help during war
time and in the period of reconstruction.
Walter Bach, a grandson of the company founder, has
been heading the company since 1961, giving the com-
pany the worldwide significance the SCHERDELGroup
has today, with visionary decisions and bold steps.
Christian Schiener, Marcus Bach and Maximilian von Waldenfels
have been in charge of the successful future of our company
since 2013.
Our valve springs allow for the first post-
war successes of the Daimler-Benz
Silver Arrows, the NSU blue whales,
BMW motorcycles and Porsche race
cars.
International milestones resulting in
a cross-sector product range. Piston
ring spring production started. Today
our company is still the market leader
for this product.
1968: Starting point for tool and ma-
chine construction and the associated
successful entry in the production of
high-tech springs.
1978: The increasing significance of tool
and machine construction resulted in it
being spun off in stand-alone compa-
nies.
Setting the course for the successful
internationalization via significant share-
holdings in French and Spanish spring
makers. In parallel, the number of em-
ployees exceeded 1,000.
SCHERDEL valve springs played a
part in the first transatlantic crossing
from East to West.
Our first factory in Erlangen Bruck is built.
Production focused on: Springs for the
aviation industry.
The first compression spring production
line started operation.
Appreciative reception in the Oval
Office: Bill Clinton, President of the
United States, and Walter Bach sha-
ring their thoughts about the economic
trend in our country at that time.
Production in Brazil and Mexico starts.
Shortly afterwards the company is
expanded in cooperation with the
TOGO-Seisakusyo Group in Japan.
New prospective markets such as
medical technology and e-mobility are
opened up successfully.
Audi is having winning streaks with our
valve springs at the 24-hour race of
Le Mans.

arch and Development Centre.
SCHERDEL Siment with their numeri-
cal simulation and SCHERDEL Innotec

125-year-old success story.
THE SCHERDEL SUCCESS STORY
For more than a century our company has been standing for success in motion.
Whether in the Graf Zeppelin airship, the Daimler-Benz Silver Arrow or the 24-hour race of
Le Mans: Motion and developments related to engines, technical springs and many other
technical components, are what drives our company every day. The courageous footprints
of the legendary company founder Sigmund Scherdel have encouraged many people to
join and shape our company in the course of our corporate history. Even today, with the
fourth SCHERDELgeneration, the signs are set for success, telling our success story:
Our valve springs accompanied

EXPERTISE DOWN TO THE DETAILS METAL FORMING We have remained true to our company‘s core expertise from the early years. Dynamic springs and spring components made by SCHERDEL are high-precision products with high functional integration. They can be found wherever flexible solutions to problems are needed. Be it miniflex springs as components in a 3-piece oil scraper ring, power springs for high-performance electric switches, stamping and bending parts or a customer-specific spring stack made of high-performance disc springs: We know what springs can and must be capable of. We are a specialist in spring techno-logy and metal forming sought-after worldwide, for good reason.
EXPERTISE IN JOINING TECHNOLOGY ASSEMBLY & JOINING TECHNOLOGY
Mortising, clinching, riveting, soldering, various welding methods, pressure point joining and many more: Our assembly & joining divisions leverage the various synergies of our Group of companies with their broad range of activities. Assembly groups produced ready for installation, multi-dimensional welding assemblies made from weight-reducing tube material and plastic-metal combinations for functional and cost-effective solutions in terms of lightweight construction, functional integration and appearance – We combine individual customer requirements with absolute fun-ctionality.
EXPERTISE IN APPLICATION TOOL CONSTRUCTION
The starting point is customer-specific simulation. The results are tools, fixtures and gauges of the highest standards. The service offering of our development team includes small series production, product optimization, 3D measurement and tool maintenance. Their strength is their long-standing experience in cost-effective tool making.

EXPERTISE DOWN TO THE SURFACE SURFACE TECHNOLOGY
Our surface technology innovation team is flexible and customer-oriented, ensuring high quality all across the surface. Various mechanical methods, from the reduction of friction resistance to corrosion prevention and color design, bring to the surface what the compo-nents are really made of. Delta MKS coating, powder coating and cathodic dip painting are used to optimize the product‘s characteristics. Our surface technology services are always lab-tested, including thermal processes changing the microstructure of the components to allow for an optimized endurance limit.
EXPERTISE IN COMPLEMENTARY PRODUCTS INDUSTRIAL COMPONENTS
Whenever masses have to be moved or components with high functional integration are asked for, our products are the answer. Our spiral spring weight balancer is a trendsetting alternative to hydraulic-only or pneumatic-only weight balancing. Our expertise in terms of monolithic mineral casting is equally trendsetting. If used in high-precision machinery, it not only shows its advantages in fabrication and series production, it also stands out with high absorption capacity and excellent dimensional stability of components. Innovative production processes for combining plastic and metal parts also provide for functional all-in-one solutions. Whether for machine and system construction, electronics or indus-trial applications: Our comprehensive component production is based on µm-precision practised every day.
EXPERTISE IN PRODUCTION MACHINE AND SYSTEM CONSTRUCTION
