About the arrangement ...

This arrangement of "Awesome God" seeks to show God's mystery as well asHis vastness. At the beginning, the sopranos should adopt a "boy's choir"sound (vowels far back up in the roof of the mouth, airy sound with no

vibrato), then add vibrato when the remaining parts join in, adding warmth tothe sound at the divisi at measure 20. All should repeat this interpretation atthe subito p at measure 61 after the verse.

Vocal dynamics are key to communicating both His supernatural other worldly

aura, and conversely, His awesome majesty. The accompanist should play very

phrased and glass-like in the quiet sections, and forcefully in the broaderpassages.

About the arranger ...Alan Moore is owner of Moore Music Group Inc.

in Chicago, IL, a film scoring studio and musicproduction company. His compositions therehave won five Clios, two Mobius, numerous

Addys, and a Gold Lion at Cannes Film Festival.

He presently leads worship at Lakeland

Evangelical Free Church in Gurnee, IL, inaddition to his scoring duties.

For 16 years prior to moving to Chicago, Alanresided in Nashville where he arranged and

orchestrated multiple platinum recordings for

Amy Grant, Steve Green, Larnelle Harris,Michael Card, Sandi Patty, and the "New Young Messiah" as well as many

secular artists. His first love has always been choral writing, whether

contemporary or traditional.
