waste consists of a screening machine,

wind sifter, sink–float separation and

water treatment.

The screening machine serves to sepa-

rate the fine particle fraction and there-

by reduces the amount of sludge pro-

duced later in the process. The oversize

is further separated according to density.

First, foils are removed with the help of

burned for energy recovery in a similar

way to the foil fraction. For continuous

operation of the sink–float separation

system, a lamella separator is needed to

treat the process water for recirculation.

Here the sediments have time to settle

down, without the need of a big settling

basin, which would take up a lot of space.

Mixed construction waste cannot be disposed on landfill because of its organic com-

ponents. Thermal disposal on the other hand is too expensive. That’s why it should

first be separated according to density so that inert waste can be dumped and com-

bustible material can be burned for energy recovery.

SCREENING The fine fraction is separated from the input to prevent too much dust forming in the wind sifter and too much sludge in the HDS-M.

WIND SIFTING The foils are separated from the heavy fraction and are taken to a container or discharge conveyor. The heavy fraction is handed over to the HDS-M via the side conveyor to undergo sink–float separation. 

PROCESS DIAGRAM

WATER TREATMENT Water treatment guarantees continuous operation and consistent separation. Depending on the material, a dosing station may also be necessary along with the lamella separator.

SINK–FLOAT SEPARATION The HDS-M separates the stones from the wood using their different densi-ties. Additionally, the wood fraction is cleaned of surface contaminants, for instance sand, in a washing drum.
