What is a prescriptive rebate? A standardized, predetermined list of rebates for CenterPoint Energy customers who add, replace, or retrofit natural gas equipment of pre-qualified, high-efficiency performance. These rebates are set dollar amounts. Replacing existing or adding new natural gas equipment from a predetermined list of equipment that qualifies for rebates from CenterPoint Energy. These rebates are set dollar amounts.

• Prescriptive rebate offerings:

• Boilers and boiler system components (hot water and steam) • Space heating system rebates • Water heater rebates • Foodservice equipment rebates

Program is valid for 2015 installations

Process Efficiency

A holistic, 3-phase program that drives sustainable energy

conservation for our industrial customers with process loads

Phase 1: High-level analysis of facility ECOs

Phase 2: In-depth studies of selected ECOs,

funded by CenterPoint Energy and

Xcel Energy.

Recommissioning

Recommissioning (RCx): Identifying and implementing low-cost “tune-up” improvements to functional systems in a customer’s existing facility that allow it run as efficiently as possible.

Improvements typically save gas and

electric energy

CNP RCx Program designed and sized

for the gas-weighted portion of energy

savings

Can be a stand-alone program OR

Can be paired with the owner’s electric

utility RCx program

2015 Design & Engineering Programs

Recommissioning

1. Study Funding

• Funding is a function of the customer’s gas usage and

predicted gas savings potential

• Up to 75% of study cost, not to exceed $5,000

2. Implementation Rebates

• $5.00/Dth saved

• Must have 1 year to 10 year payback

26

2015 Design & Engineering Programs

Engineering Assistance

Engineering Assistance:

A program to offset some of the engineering costs involved with

evaluating and designing energy-efficient gas measures with

capital costs.

1. Study and identification

2. Implementation

27

2015 Design & Engineering Programs

Engineering Assistance

Funding:

• Up to half the study cost with a $10,000 maximum cap provided

in two payment steps

• Study payment (up to $5,000) is paid when the engineering report

is received

• Implementation payment (up to $5,000) is paid if a gas savings

project suggested in the report is implemented and rebated by

CenterPoint Energy

• Rebates for the gas-savings measure may also be available

28

2015 Design & Engineering Programs

Engineering Assistance

To Qualify:

• CenterPoint Energy must pre-approve the

Engineering Assistance application

• Report must be prepared by a PE

• Technical documentation must be

received by CenterPoint Energy

Natural Gas Energy Analysis- Steam Trap Survey

CenterPoint Energy offers a subsidized steam trap survey- 80% of the survey

cost is paid for by

What’s included in this audit?

•An energy audit professional will visit your facility to:

•Conduct the steam trap testing using ultrasonic and infrared equipment

• Inventory all traps tested

• Identify failed traps that need to be replaced

•Highlight other areas of concern (for example: leaking valves and

uninsulated pipes)

CenterPoint Energy also offers rebates to cover 35% of repaired or replaced

steam traps, up to $10,000 per building
