    Who is using? For what?

We havent incorporated yet, but there is some potential, I think. Before running any kind of batch process, you need to set up your local save files. You can use the default files they have set up, or you can create your owneither in the folder theyre created, or you can create your own folder (like if you want to create a shared folder)

Ill tell you about this now because I think its the only place theres a picture of it:*compact/repair button: even when you delete records from your local save, the space is still thereperiodically you need to compact and repair to free up space or else the file size continues to growConfigure paths button:Adds or deletes a local file pathIf you want to add (for example if you are creating a shared local path and you want to create on network instead of your pc), click add; browse for file. You can also use the add diologue box to create a new folder.Creates the file where your local save file records (and search keys) are stored.Exporting is a little differentwell discuss in a little while.Apparently you can run batch processes for multiple local files at once, but I havent tried. This is just the simple demo. This slide shows you how to get you list of records in your local file.

To save a record to a local file, click Action, then Save to local file. Or F4 (which is something I often do accidentally)Highlight the records you want to take a particular action on, the click action, then whatever.Note: you have to be logged off or else you do the action and it does the action..When you do that, before you run your batch, the status is R for ready. On menu, clickBatch process batch

Check date replaced box is kind of cool. Before performing the action, the replaced date is checked. If its more recent than the replace date on the record in your local file, the action on the local file record fails and OCLC downloads a copy of the newer record. This is a screen shot of the record after the batch was run. Notice the status C.

Batch export is a little different in that you have to set a preference. Then, as long as youre set to export in batch, thats all you can do.

You can export a group of records from your local save file. If youre online on a record and you want to export it, if your preference is set to batch export, the status will be changed to R and your record will be added to the local file to wait for the batch export. Note status RNote status RNote status RAgain,Batch process batchThis time click the exports box.Need to set your options

Important is the max # of hits. 100 is the hightet no. you can set. Construct your searches in the command line search format . Sca searches dont work (I tried) numeric seems to and so does derived

The search keys are saved to the local file specified up top.

When youre done entering search keys, be sure to save.

Note: the import button imports search keys from a text file.Batchprocess batch

This time click Online searches boxWhen I was logged on and ran my batch search, I kept getting error reports until I set my login and password for the local file where I wanted to download my search results. After I ran a batch search from being logged on, I would look and notice that I was logged off.

You can run a batch search and not be logged on. In fact thats probably better. Results of my batch search
