Because of this direction we found the village of Sjørring interesting as a starting point. It is a station city and a strategic accesspoint towards the inland. But Sjørring isn’t a optimal point for starting the journey down the stream because sections of the stream is dryed out part of the year. Therefore we identified Faddersbøl as an catalytic point for developing the wa- terscape. The stream float by a newly reconstructed mill in which a museum is located. Near to the stream a broad spectrum of activty paths runs by making Fad- dersbøl a key point for link- ing activitives Bedsted Bedsted was the first stop for project interviews. First in the former elderly center Rønhede Centeret where they want to do a bike camp and subsequently in BOOA which is also an former elderly center, but now its fully developed activity center, with a large share of people coming in from Thisted municipality. A lot of these different activities started because of some disagreements with the municipality which activated the people of Bedsted and now they have a common strategi for the future Bedsted to become a city for active people. The bike camp is just in the process and the idea is to make and all-inclusive solution for people to rent and go by bike from Bedsted to Thy National Park. As well is the story for BOOA which is a really good example of what you can reach which local activism. Furthermore, they introduzed us for an idea about opening a small place for primitive bike camping in connection to BOOA. Morup Mølle We were invited to an privat interview followed up by a walk in Morup Mølle. This was a smaller project contained of private organized shelter place next to the stream. Their idea was to reconstruct an old water mill in connection to the now closed inn in the center of the villages. They have already heard about the plans in Bedsted and want to be linked to this project. But what we saw as another potential was the nice spot down the stream surrounded by trees and the old garden of the inn. This made us follow the stream to see what it could bring of new potentials to the inland. Kayak & Canoe Inspired by the crossing stream in Morup Mølle we looked up where to rent a canoe and called Harald Nielsen. There were almost no information further on the internet but we got invited to his place to hear more. They have an association whit 250 members and to get more members they offered one free ride when they are confirmed. A lot of the members were family or friends. This was truely a local organized project. Harald himself arranged trips for firms and institutions, planning transport of the canoes and was providing food. We also go information’s of where it is possible to sail and existing facilities for sleeping, fire and toilets. He had a lot of ideas on how to develop this canoeing and combine it with other activities. The regulation prescribes that youre only allowed to rend out canoes from 15 of July to 31 of De- cember, but if you are a private person you can canoe all year around. This restriction is be- cause of the otters living in Hvidbjerg stream. In line with increasing globalisation and major changes in the production conditions of agriculture, there has been a significant distorstion of the demographic map of Denmark. The result of these changes are declining population in rural areas and massive growth in the metropolitan regions. In connection to this reality projects have been developed and completed under the title “Land of Opportunities”. Land of Opportunities is a project-oriented strategi which goal is to stregthen the local qualities in a global world. Thisted Municipality is facing these challenges and are one of three municipalities involved in Land of Opportunities. Especially the inland is weakened by this development. In form of vacant buildings, reduc- tion in jobs and a still larger share of elderly inhabitants. CONNECTING THE INLAND continues in the same line of thought. By locating and com- bining local activism, tourisme and unique nature along the inland lakes and streams the projects goal is to stregthen the qualities of rural living for locals and tourists. Our research led us to the very varied landscape in the inland of Thisted municipality. Especially the inland waterscape caught our attention. By facilitating and introduzing this fluid path to tourist and locals the project will generate awareness of the hidden qualities of the magnificent water system and connect it to a various pack of ac- tivities. In cooperation with local activist and architect student CONNECTING THE INLAND will unfold the inland waterscape by enabling the link between different activities and build on the existing local activism towards the creation of new facilities and futhermore to reuse the vacant houses as studio for workshops and storage buildings. This diagram shows how different users can experience the shifting waterscape through the canoeing, where the journey are customized to the specific user group. In facilitating the sites along the water-network and in making nodes of activities, a more dynamic use of the canoeing could be possible. In facilitating and linking the activity of the canoeing, the inland could be functioning as the port towards the national park, acting as a integrated part of the exisiting activity network.

- Exisiting facilities and often used as the last stop for the canoeing- Hvidbjerg Stream running through leading di-rectly into the national park- Close to Bedsted station city and the Marguerit route

- In-between the rural landscape and the national park- rich birdlife in Ove Lake, birdwatch tower- fishing possibilities in the northern part of Ove Lake- Connected to bike path and close to Thy riding route and hiking paths in the plantation- Ove Lake one of Denmarks longest and narrowest lakes

- On the edge of the national park and the port towards the surfing hotspot in Nørre Vorupør- reconstructed mill with information about history, nature and routes available in the area- In connection to bike route

- The northern accesspoint to the water-network, close to Sjørring station city- Entering the creek from here enables an experience from the open fields into the dark tunnel before arriving faddersbøl

- Existing facilities- Close to Snedsted station city

- Lake with birdlife

- Existing facilities, popular site for recreation and nature studies- Burial mounds- Unique meadow flora - Viewpoint

- Where creek, fjord and lake meet

- A broad network of activities and attractions in the national park

- Close to Svankær and Hvidbjerg plantation- Intimate site for shelters- Halfway in-between Ove Lake and Morup Mølle
