Global Business School, Hubli Felicitated Dr. G S Amur on Teachers Day

Global Business School, Hubli located at Bhairidevarkoppa, Hubli offering 2 years MBA course under Karnatak University Dharwad, has set a tradition from the year of its inception to honor and felicitate the teacher of eminence to recognize the contribution made to the teaching arena. Keeping this tradition going, the eminent teachers namely Prof. Abdul Kareem, Prof. A H Chachadi, Prof. C C Dixit, Later Prof. Srinivas Tophkane, Prof Sudhindra Rao, Prof Giraddi Govindraj, Teacher Hiremath of Chikkodi, Teacher Mrs. Dalwaipattan are the recipients of felicitation and honor in the last 5 years at GBS. This year on 5th of September, which is marked as a Teacher’s day, GBS felicitated Dr. G S Amur, the eminent scholar, critic and teacher of English Literature. In his address on the occasion, Dr. Amur said although he is not a student of management, but few things which he has learnt in his life have some relevance to the management. The most important is time management. All of us have 24hours; therefore there is no reason to complain that somebody has shortage of time to attend to the various things. Time management requires a good planning which enables utilization of time effectively. Continuing his address, he touched upon, the today’s needs of teaching because learning through memory, is not important because all the information is available to everybody. The machine does memory work, what the teacher needs to give to his/her students is the necessary skills to use and apply for achieving the success in life. He concluded that a student should be lucky to have the good teachers throughout his learning phase of life. This is rare but he was fortunate enough to get good teachers during his time. Though the principle of borrowing and lending was thought as not preachable in the olden days but for the successful business both borrowing and lending is necessary he added. Welcoming the gathering, Director Placements Nagraj Gouder informed the importance of teacher’s day. Dr. Ramesh Kulkarni introduced Dr. G S Amur to the gathering. The Vice President of GEN Society Shri. Mahendra Kothari felicitated Dr. G SAmur for GBS. In the presidential remarks, GBS Director Dr. Ramakant Kulkarni citing the importance of teacher in inculcating the moral values, role model, and capability building are essential which he referred to one of the speeches delivered by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam ji in 2003. Ms. Diana compeered the program and thanked the audience. Later the students of GBS marked the occasion by cutting the cake and administering the games to the teachers.

From the Back Cover

"One of the most important communication books I've ever read. I highly recommend it!"

Spencer Johnson, author of Who Moved My Cheese? and co-author of The One Minute Manager

"...Ries and Trout taught me everything I know about branding, marketing, and product

management. When I had the idea of creating a very large thematic community on the Web, I

first thought of Positioning...."

David Bohnett, Chairman and Founder of GeoCities

The first book to deal with the problems of communicating to a skeptical, media-blitzed public,

Positioning describes a revolutionary approach to creating a "position" in a prospective

customer's mind-one that reflects a company's own strengths and weaknesses as well as those of

its competitors. Writing in their trademark witty, fast-paced style, advertising gurus Ries and

Trout explain how to:

Make and position an industry leader so that its name and message wheedles its

way into the collective subconscious of your market-and stays there

Position a follower so that it can occupy a niche not claimed by the leader

Avoid letting a second product ride on the coattails of an established one.

Positioning also shows you how to:

Use leading ad agency techniques to capture the biggest market share and

become a household name

Build your strategy around your competition's weaknesses

Reposition a strong competitor and create a weak spot

SEPTEMBER VOL:1 NO:1 [GBS FOCUS]

25

Use your present position to its best advantage

Choose the best name for your product

Determine when-and why-less is more

Analyze recent trends that affect your positioning.

Ries and Trout provide many valuable case histories and penetrating analyses of some of the

most phenomenal successes and failures in advertising history. Revised to reflect significant

developments in the five years since its original publication, Positioning is required reading for

anyone in business today.
