Funding for this conference (event) was made possible (in part) by grant P20MD002717 The RIMI-COR Program Presents: Fetal, Child and Maternal Health - New Research and Policies You are invited to the free one‐day conference, “Fetal, Child and Maternal Health – New Research and Policies” which will be held at the Dobbs Ferry Campus of Mercy College, NY. It is sponsored by the Research Infrastructure in Minority InsDtuDons – Career OpportuniDes in Research (RIMI‐COR) Training Program to Promote Minority Health funded through a grant from the NIH ‐ NaDonal InsDtute on Minority Health and Health DispariDes. The goal of the conference is to highlight factors that affect maternal health, pregnancy outcomes and child health as they relate to minority health and health dispariDes including recommendaDons for changes in policy and health behaviors. Through presentaDons and panel discussions, the topics to be covered will include: the effects of poverty on children’s mental, emoDonal and behavioral health; maternal transmission of HIV/AIDS; the effects of maternal stress on perinatal development; the roots of newborn brain acDvity and behavior; the effects of environmental toxins on child development ‐ social jusDce implicaDons; and maternal mental health. The conference will be of interest to medical and behavioral health care professionals, mental health professionals, public health officials, social workers, faculty, students, community and health service agencies, and community leaders.
