AMERICAN FASCINATION WITH ROYALS
The American fascination with our Royal Family is un-matched by any other countries. One
of our most beloved and famous monarch has been King Henry VIII, whose 500th
Anniversary of the enthronement is currently been celebrated, as he came to the throne in
July 1509 after his father death in April of that same year.
KING HENRY VIII SOAP OPERA LIFESTYLE
King Henry VIII soap opera lifestyle can only be matched with that of Hollywood in today’s
world. This educated sportsman and musician, had six wives, two of whom he beheaded,
broke away from the Catholic Church and set himself up as the head of the Church of
England. He was very fashionable which led one observer to write at the time "His fingers
were one mass of jewelled rings, and around his neck he wore a gold collar from which hung
a diamond as big as a walnut. His clothes were magnificent to match, sumptious silks, cloth
of gold, satins, coloured feathers and of course jewells and precious metals sprinked
everywhere."
TOWER OF LONDON
One of King Henry VIII most beloved palaces was The Tower of London. Founded nearly a millennium ago, The Tower of London has been expanded upon over the centuries by many a king and queen. The first foundations were laid in 1078 and the castle has been constantly improved and extended. The Tower of London is the oldest palace, fortress and prison in Europe. Today it houses the Crown Jewels and is keeper to the Royal Ravens and its official title is 'Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress of the Tower of London’
At the Tower of London in celebration of King Henry VIII 500th Anniversary of his Elevation as King, a series of exhibitions, re-enactments, ceremonies, plays, musicals and tours will be running from April 2009 into 2010. Most famous among these will be the “Dress to Kill” Exhibition, which features some of the world rarest arms and armours selected from the treasures of the Royal Armouries and other international collection.

GUOMAN COLLECTION
Her Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress of the Tower of London is situated alongside one of Guoman Collection’s finest hotel – The Tower. To stay in a Guoman hotel is to experience something truly individual. Each has its own special character, atmosphere and sense of place. This unique point of view sets each hotel apart from the others; what unites them is a commitment to truly exceptional standards of comfort and service. The Guoman values are expressed in the hotels’ designer bedrooms, sumptuous dining, up-to-the minute technology and inspiring conference facilities.
THE TOWER
The Tower is located on the north bank of the River Thames right beside Tower Bridge and the Tower of London, so perfect for exploring the historic landmarks or the riverside, both on foot or on one of the many river cruises. The hotel also overlooks St Katharine's Dock, a unique waterside location in the centre of London.
Built as part of the redevelopment of St Katharine’s Dock, The Tower took 3 years to build
and is on an island site located between the River Thames and St Katharine’s Dock. The
opening ceremony on 19th September 1973 was carried out by Field Marshal Sir Richard
Hull, GCB DSO, Constable of the Tower of London.
Leading London-based fashion designer Aimee McWilliams has been commissioned to create an haute couture clothing collection to communicate the individual style, character and history of the four hotels which currently form the Guoman collection.
Aimee, a graduate of the Central Saint Martin's School of Art and Design, is recognised as one of today's hottest young designers. She set up her own label after winning the award for the best collection upon graduation and more recently won the Designer of the Year Award at the Scottish Style Awards 2007
The Tower dress is made up of multiple layers of French silk chiffon over a very sculptural tailored under-dress. Aimee drew most of her inspiration from the surroundings as well as the interior of the lobby with its tinted mirror panelling covering the geometric staircases and balconies. There was a very distinct colour palette in this hotel that fed directly to the outcome of the dress.
The garment has been inspired by the luxurious interiors and heritage of the hotel and all will be exhibition in May before being auctioned for charity, proceeds of which will go to “Help for Heroes”, Guoman Hotels' chosen charity.

RECOMMENDATION
We are recommending the following based on our assessment of the The Guoman Collection – The Tower, its location, its services, its amenities; to be the ideal venue for the Optimum Health Care Limited:
THE CONFERENCE
With Height been synonymous with both Optimum and Tower, Staged Events Ltd, feels it can produce a world class conference befitting of Optimum Health Care company’s image and brand, with accommodation and conference facilities at the Tower and conference gala dinner at the Tower of London. Giving the delegates of the conference the best of both world; the modern convenience in a tranquillity setting of the Tower Hotel with a Gala Dinner at the historical Tower of London. This of course is in keeping with the theme; King Henry VIII, who in himself was a tower of strength during his days.
Accommodation
Eight to ten of the suites will be reserved for the executives of the company and senior level managers, each suite is individual, uniquely styled and with its own personality or feature. The Tudor Suite’s conservatory and terrace are perfect for entertaining, or for that special celebration. The dining room in the Queen Elizabeth Suite is ideal for an intimate dinner, whether prepared by us or you in your own kitchenette. One Hundred and forty-two (142) apartments will be reserved for the other delegates; these rooms which are double occupancy will be will be reserved as single.

The Welcome Reception We are proposing that the Cocktail Reception and Welcome Buffet be held in the Carvery, which is noted for its serving traditional English food including delicious roast meats, light lunches, salads and desserts in a delightful setting overlooking St Katharine's Dock.
Conference Rooms
We are proposing to use the Tower Suite 1 or 3 as the main conference room, as either of these rooms can hold up to 150 persons in cabaret style. As the number of break-out room is still undecided we have identify up to ten of such rooms that can be use for these sessions.
Team Building Staged Events believe that we take the delegates offsite for the team building activity to give them a chance to see the beautiful and historic city of London, so in keeping with our theme we are suggesting King Henry VIII Video Shoot, where the delegates will be given costumes to dress like characters from King Henry VIII’s days, video equipments, make-up, etc, to shoot their own version of King Henry VIII at the Tower of London.
Evening together This, we are proposing, takes place in the Brasserie Restaurant at the Tower, which overlooks the Tower Bridge and serves a mixture of European finest cuisine.
Gala Dinner Once again, Staged Events believe that by taking the delegates offsite for the Gala Dinner will generate more excitement for them, and so it will be held at the Tower of London and in keeping with the theme; King Henry VIII will be doubted Dress To Kill from the current running Exhibition.
