US ARMY CADET COMMAND

ARMY GOLDEN MASTER WINDOWS ACTIVATION  

   

Purpose

To provide guidance on the process to be used by Cadet Command Senior and Junior ROTC staff to activate the Windows operating system on government owned computers with the Army Golden Master (AGM) installed. The activation process helps verify the Windows operating system on the computer is genuine and hasn't been installed on more computers than the Microsoft Software License Terms allow.

Requirements

• Individual completing the activation process possesses a Common Access Card (CAC) or an Alternate Smart Card Login (ASCL) token card. You can use any CAC or ASCL Token Card to active Windows.

• An active Internet connection. • AGM image must be activated within 30 days of turning on the computer.

Windows Activation Process Instructions

Open In normal Windows operating mode if prompted.

1. Enter the Username and Password that was provided with the computer.

               

2. Insert CAC or ASCL Token Card

                       

3. If the menu pictured below is not visible on your new computer do this:

 

Ø Go to the Start menu, right click to open the menu -

Ø Right click on the computer tab, Select the “Computer” tab

Ø Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select “View basic info about your computer”

Ø Click on 3 days until auto activation, activate windows now

Ø A “pop up” box will appear on your screen - Select WORK network, Click YES, the “pop up” box will close

Click- Activate Window Now

(Wait while the system searches for Certificates to activate Windows)

When prompted, enter the PIN associated with the CAC or ASCL Token Card inserted in the computer during step 2.

Wait while Windows is activating, this may take several minutes. 7.

Once the activation process is complete you will see “Activation was successful” on your screen. Close that window. Exit out of the view basic information about your computer screen.

If Windows fails to activate, repeat the activation steps. If your Windows still does not activiate, make sure that your CAC or ASCL token is registered and has the required valid certificates. If you do not have a valid CAC or ASCL token , please contact your brigade IMO.

 

8. Go to my computer icon, right click, select All Programs, right click, select MS Word and right click to open Microsoft Word.

The Activate Office window will open.

Click the radio button - I want to activate software over the Internet, click Next If a pop up window opens - Apple Software Update Check Quick Time Select Install 1 Item Select the Accept button

Click the Close button. Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 is now installed and active on your computer. Exit out of MS Word.

 Thank you, your copy of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 is activated.

 

Curriculum Manager Set-up 1.

Double click on the Curriculum Manager Icon

Click on CM Updater

Click Yes

Click-Check for Updates.The Curriculum Manager must be updated to patch 94 to function properly with MS Office 2013. Click “YES” - Accept Updates

Once updates are complete, click-Exit Updater 6.

Click-File Fix

Click the button to fix files 8.

Click-Exit Utility

Click the Launch CM icon 10.

Launch CM. USERNAME: jrotc PASSWORD: jrotc

You must click “Yes” for new user

12.

Fill in your User Information. The drive number will be the serial number for your computer. You must inform your brigade of the drive number for your CM. YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE SET-UP OF YOUR COMPUTER AND CURRICULUM MANAGER.
