Review of Sentences Thus Far…

• Simple Sentence: Contains a subject and a predicate (aka an independent clause).

• Compound Sentence: Contains two or more simple sentences (ICs) joined by a conjunction (FANBOYS)

• Complex Sentence: Contains an independent clause and a dependent clause.

• Compound-Complex: Contains two independent clauses joined by one of the FANBOYS and a dependent clause– A combination of a compound sentence and a complex

sentence

• Everything that is present in a compound sentence and a complex sentence MUST be present to be considered a compound-complex sentence.
