Most UK golf courses and major sports
facilities have an irrigation scheme. Many
may only be only used for part of the year,
but when needed have to work effectively.
Any irrigation system should operate
efficiently - assisting maintenance regimes,
playability and aesthetics.
Some original systems are now very old
and as things wear out problems
occur - burst pipes, tired sprinklers, control
systems failing. We offer professional
solutions to failing or ageing systems.
A site visit assesses the extent of the
problem, and following that our design
team are able to propose solutions for
repair, upgrade or replacement.
Irrigation and Water work with
architects, designers, consultants and
constructors on major upgrades and new
projects. With AutoCad design facilities,
GPS survey equipment and knowledge on
the latest products and equipment, we
produce high quality accurate designs and
costs to your specifications.
As an independent business, we offer the
most cost-effective solution for any project.
We purchase quality equipment from
leading manufacturers: Hunter, Rainbird,
Toro and John Deere – and the same goes
for pipe, fittings and quality pumps.
Delivering goods at the right price is one
factor. Obtaining the order and installing
your system correctly are equally
important. Our installation teams are
experienced - our staff are team
leaders; machinery operators who are
electrically and mechanically skilled. All are
as comfortable solving a pump or plumbing
problem as fault-finding an
irrigation controller or control panel
failure. So, when we call upon experienced
outside labour to assist in installation, the
project is fully managed, making us flexible
and cost effective. And giving you the best
value at all times.

A healthy pond stays clean naturally.
Ponds are individual eco-systems with food
chains of organisms, from simple single
cell bacteria, assimilating incoming
nutrients. Ideally, the system works
naturally, without a pond aeration system
to improve pond water quality. Maintaining
a balanced eco-system, until too many
nutrients suppress it’s ability to deal with
them. When this happens, the high
nutrient levels mean algae and other
unattractive plant life flourish. Algae turns
a pond green, and floating algae mats form
fast. Weeds interfere with swimming,
boating and fishing. Ponds with little
movement can develop algae build-up,
foul odours and weeds; the perfect
environment for mosquito breeding.
An aerator works by disrupting the water’s
eco-system. Increasing oxygen supply, and
helping boost numbers of fish and other
aquatic animals.
Aerators control weeds and algae too,
improving water quality. They also make
the water more suitable for swimming and
boating.
Two pond aeration systems are diffused
aerators and surface aerators.
Each is highly effective, with pros and cons
making them appropriate for different
types of pond or lake. Irrigation and
Water assess your requirements before
proposing the right aeration system for
your project. We look at the visual aspect,
and whether the aerator should be seen
or hidden. The audio aspect is important,
the higher water is thrown, the louder the
splash. The depth of the water is also
important. Deeper water is more effective
for subsurface aeration.

As drinking water becomes more of a
valuable commodity in the UK we are
seeing rising charges for supply and
delivery. Water companies are challenged
to supply high quality drinking water for
a rising population on a planet with finite
resources. This means higher investments
by these companies leading to increased
charges to the consumer.
With these rising costs, there is an
alternative...your own private water supply.
Sinking a borehole and having your own
private water supply allows you to make
substantial long term savings. Water
bearing strata can be found at differing
ground levels in many regions of the
country. Drilling a borehole to penetrate
these formations can produce a reliable,
clean, continuous water supply for
domestic and commercial use.
Some Important Facts about boreholes:
• Have up to 20m3 of water a
day from your private supply without a
licence - that’s 4,400 gallons!
• The water is natural and untreated
- no added chemicals.
• Once installed you, only pay for the
electricity cost of running the pump
• The whole house/garden can have a
constantly pressurised supply - no need for
power showers!
If you are considering a borehole, it’s
important that it is properly constructed
and designed.
At Irrigation and Water we use our
considerable knowledge to guide you
completely through this process, from initial
survey to providing a formal quotation and
providing you with borehole and pumping
equipment for your sustainable supply.

These days, we are bombarded with
programmes about designing gardens and
landscape projects. Almost every day,
someone seems to be ’making over’ or
designing a garden or landscape area.
We have high expectations of what our
own gardens and outdoor space should be
like. We visit the garden centre and buy a
specimen tree or shrub, or expensive turf.
Buying larger plants gives us the
effect of mature planting faster and
everyone would like an instant, perfect
lawn.
In the UK, we have changeable weather
even during the summer. Drought periods
spell danger for new plants and turf.
All plants or new lawns must have regular
watering to establish themselves.
The bigger the tree or plant, the more
water they require.
We have the experience and equipment to
design professional irrigation systems for
commercial or residential landscape. Using
efficient low volume irrigation
products, water is applied directly where it
is needed, without wastage. Sensors detect
moisture levels to switch the system off
when it rains. Water can be sourced from
the mains, borehole, or from roofs or
surrounding buildings.
If it sounds daunting, it needn’t be.
We have designed systems for a few
hundred pounds, to systems for very large
gardens and stately homes, from parks and
recreational facilities to motorway
embankments.

can help you.

Irrigation and Water supply pumps for
every application.
Choosing the correct pump can be
complex, as each model offers a
particular performance. Pumps can be
miss-sold, and problems occur when a
pump is not matched to a specific job we
select each pump individually; check it’s
performance, investigate its application
and offer a solution.
Irrigation booster pumps, borehole
pumps, water supply pumps, pond
pumps, fountain pumps, processing
pumps, industrial pumps or sewage
pumps - every pump we supply is
carefully selected for performance, quality
and price. We stock many pumps in our
stores, and these can be collected or
delivered to you. Larger units are
delivered directly from the manufacturers.
Once we’ve supplied a pump, we have
office based after-sales and support, with
installation and repairs from our trained
service team. If you’re in an industry where downtime is critical, our 24 hour service line gives a fast response. Manufacturer’s support is provided from ITT Lowara, Caprari, Ebara, Grundfos and Espa.Pu

Water Storage Tanks
Water storage tanks are often supplied
with a pump. Storage tanks are available
in all shapes and sizes, from small
polyethylene break tanks to large
galvanised steel or glass reinforced
materials holding thousands of litres.
At Irrigation and water, tank capacities are carefully
calculated to ensure there is sufficient storage for the project. With ranges of tanks from all major manufacturers, you can be confident the tank we suggest will be cost effective and suitable for purpose.

Supplying water systems for livestock in
more remote areas of the UK brings its
own particular challenges. Outdoor reared
pigs...ducks...cattle or horses
The availability of a suitable water supply,
especially from an existing source, can
mean hundreds of meters of supply pipe;
crossing roads, ditches, hedges and public
rights of way.
Irrigation and Water design and supply
specialist livestock drinking systems for
outdoor livestock, and ensure that any pipe
work is large enough to provide the correct
pressure and flow. We also look at
alternative water supplies from rivers,
boreholes and rainwater harvesting and if
required, specifying the correct pumping
equipment for the job.
Using our specialist machinery, any pipe
can be installed with little disturbance to
the ground. We also design and install
indoor drinking systems for chickens and
poultry, with pumping and dosing
equipment. We can install cooling systems
for indoor livestock houses, which give that
vital few degrees drop in temperature,
ensuring a healthy environment.
With our specialist teams of installers,
Irrigation and Water can supply your total livestock irrigation package, including water storage, pumping equipment, pipe work and fittings.

At Irrigation and Water, we provide solu-
tions, from service and repair, design and
installation, or simply product supply.
So, whether you are from a golf club and
looking to replace - in the most cost effective
manner - a 25 year old irrigation system... or
you are a private house owner, with a property
located miles from mains water, looking for a
sustainable alternative...we will always help
you find a solution. Experience has taught us
that there is often more than one solution, so
we consider every alternative before we
suggest the most appropriate, competitively
priced option.
We are always happy to help with any water
related enquiry. Even if it’s a project type that’s
new to us - we will have experience of
something similar. We enjoy new challenges,
and you can be confident our engineers and
designers will work towards a successful
solution. Every project has its own challenges.
Irrigation and Water’s experience in this
area ensures that you can be confident of
getting the most accurate and cost-effective
design. Our design team have valuable
installation experience, and are fully aware of
the pitfalls of a badly designed system. We
expect our suppliers to give us continual
updates on their latest products, performance
specifications and application. Regular training
seminars are given to our design and
installation staff.
Throughout the design process the team use
AutoCad software and other specialist programs
to produce accurate schemes for our clients.
Although we would never rely just on digital
technology we believe there should always be
an element of creative human input in the final
offer.
Once the installation is planned, a start date is
agreed. Jobs can be meticulously planned but,
arriving on site with poor weather, late
deliveries or equipment failure will inevitably
slow a project’s progress. Effective on-site
management, overseen from our office,
ensures that minor hiccups don’t become major
and are overcome quickly and effectively if they
do arise.
