Matlakse (Pty) Ltd was established in 2015 in Bloemfontein, Free State and has grown to be one of the largest suppliers and manufacturers of Miniature Substation, Distribution, Cast Resin, Power, Traction and Special transformers in South Africa and Sub Saharan African Countries.

Our Bloemfontein factory consists of a 1000m2 manufacturing and assembly plant, equipped with a state-of-the-art transformer test bay and PLC driven transformer manufacturing facilities.

Our specialized design and engineering team are fluent in the latest Solidworks 3D design software, ensuring accurate product design and pre-manufacturing modelling for specialized products.

• Distribution Transformers Product Information:The core is made of quality cold-rolled silicon sheet and is of a full-miter non-puncture structure. The transformer coil is made of quality oxygen-free copper or aluminium, depending on the clients requirements. It is artistic in appearance and safe in running and is widely used in transmission and distribution of industrial and agriculturalist. 3.3kV, 6.6kV, 11kV, 22kV and 33kV Distribution Transformers manufactured by Matlakse comply with SANS780 and IEC60076 standards of three phase immersed transformers.Capacity: 25kVA - 3150kVA

Product Information:Pole mounted transformers are electric utility distribution transformers that are mounted on an electrical service pole (wood or concrete) and are usually at the level of the overhead cables. Pole mounted transformers are the common breadbox transformers used for converting distribution voltage to the 240/400 volt power used by homes and low-volume commercial installations. Capacity: 25 - 500kVA / up to 33kV



Product Information:Power Transformers produced by Matlakse comply with the IEC 60076 standards and requirements of three phase immersed power transformers.

Our Power Transformers are certified by KEMA, CESI, V-check, CTQC, ISO9001 & 14001 and CE.Capacity: 3150kVA - 120MVA / 330kV

Product Quality:Matlakse is proud to announce that for nine consecutive years, not one of our dry type transformers has failed in service. This is as a result of accurate design and phenomenal manufacturing quality. Capacity : 50kVA to 30,000 kVA

• Dry Type Transformers

Product Information:Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) Transformersare required for many different furnace processes and applications. They are built for steel furnace, ladle furnace and ferroalloy furnace, and are similar to short or submerged Arc Furnace Transformers.

• ARC Furnace Transformers

Product Quality:An autotransformer, also known as a step-down transformer, is an electrical transformer with only one winding. The winding has at least 3 taps where electrical connections are made.

MINIATURE SUBSTATIONS

Matlakse manufactures a variety of oil immersed and dry type miniature substations, for the power distribution and mining sector, according to SANS 1029.

Voltage Ratings MV: 3.3/6.6/11/22/33kV

Transformer Sizes: 200, 315, 500, 630, 1000, 1250 and 1600kVA.

MV Switchgear:

• Oil Ring Main Unit with fuse protection• SF6 Ring Main Unit combined with a self-powered protection relay• Vacuum Ring Main Unit combined with a self-powered protection relay



SWITCHGEAR

Matlakse combine experience, quality and service to provide reliable, cost effective MV indoor and outdoor, pad mounted switchgear units to our customers specification.

Our switchgear products range from 11kV up to 132kV.



Matlakse supplies a full range of diesel powered generators manufactured off well known engines and alternators ranging from 14.5 - 2500kVA.

Matlakse is a proud OEM manufacturer of Volvo, Scania and Cummins Generator Sets. We supply and design generators to our customers’ requirements and needs.

Not only do we offer excellent quality generators we also offer effective and efficient after sales services including: Site assessments, Delivery and Specialized rigging, Generator installation and commissioning, Generator repairs and Generator servicing.
