Position Description

The General Manager/Chief Operating Officer (GM/COO) has responsibility for the day-to-day administration and operations of Redlands Country Club. The GM/COO is responsible for the creation and implementation of all service standards and processes while providing respectful, engaged and supportive leadership for key managers and staff at the Club.

A primary objective is for the GM/COO to be the visible face of the Club, and to ensure that the goals and objectives are defined, understood, evaluated and implemented on a continuous basis, to meet the expectations of the membership as defined by the Board of Directors in concert with the GM/COO.

It is intended that the GM/COO provide continuity for the Club and provide executive leadership to all areas of the operation, including to the Board and Committees, who govern and advise, respectively. The expectation is that the GM/COO will provide reflective and visionary leadership to the Board of Directors and other constituencies, recognizing and proactively anticipating trends and relevant impacts to the club.

Candidate Qualifications & Experience

The Club is looking for someone with a sincere intuitive desire and ability to be visible with a purpose throughout all aspects of the club knowing where and when to be available and accessible to members.

The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of progressive General Manager experience at a similar full-service quality country club. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional financial and budgeting acumen. Demonstrated skills in food and beverage operations and quality are essential.

The candidate must have a proven record of strong operational management skills and will have an impeccable career path ensuring the highest standards of operation and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have detailed knowledge of all areas of operation including agronomy and course maintenance protocols.

The ideal candidate will be a dedicated team leader and will provide leadership and guidance to an established and loyal group of department heads and employees. He/She must have excellent marketing skills and a proven record of membership recruitment, satisfaction and interaction.

He/She must possess the ability to work well with the Board and Committees providing visionary leadership and sound guidance. Honesty, integrity, visibility, creativity and energy are of the utmost importance to this membership, along with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.

The successful candidate will possess sound business acumen as well as the energy and desire to interact with the membership on a professional and hospitable level. The successful candidate will have a reputation as a team leader and mentor to the employees. All department heads report to the general manager. This candidate must possess the utmost of integrity and moral values and manage with a respectful style.

Long range and Strategic planning skills are considered very valuable. The candidate should be active and well respected in his or her local and national CMAA organization.

Ideally, the candidate will appreciate the game of golf and have a reasonable level of playability.

A college degree and the CCM designations are preferred.

This position is available immediately.

Salary: Open and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Club, along with the typical CMAA benefits, offers a competitive benefits & bonus package.
