Interested?

• The Paso Robles Police Department volunteers come from all walks of life, from professionals that are still in the workforce to retired senior citizens. Volunteers perform many important functions. Their participation allows police officers and other criminal justice employees to spend more time conducting proactive law enforcement activities.

• Volunteers perform primarily in two areas: administration and patrol. Administrative duties include, but are not limited to, data entry, record keeping, filing, and vehicle tow hearings. Patrol duties include, but are not limited to, traffic control, special events, business checks, and home vacation checks. Volunteers assigned to patrol are required to complete a training course.

• Prospective members of the CVP will receive instruction and hands on training on topics that includes;

• Laws and Regulations• Departmental Policy and Procedures• Patrol Procedures • Traffic Control• First Aid and CPR• Emergency Vehicle Operations

• We are the “eyes and ears” of the Paso Robles Police Department.

• We patrol the city with CVP’s own marked, radio equipped patrol cars looking for anything which may need police attention: a reckless driver, an open business door after hours, a suspicious person, etc.

• When something is observed, a radio call is made to the Dispatch Center where an officer is notified to take action.

• We conduct traffic and crowd control at special events such as parades, the Mid-State Fair and downtown events. Other duties include vacation house watch checks, crime scene protection and traffic control at accident sites. Members may also be called upon for Search and Rescue work.

Benefits of Membership

• In addition to serving the community, members learn exactly how the Police Department operates and why things are done in certain ways. They also receive professional training in all aspects of their work and they learn a great deal about our city and its people.

• CVPP members always work in pairs so safety is paramount and the work is shared.

• Opportunities include leadership roles in the organization and the ability to volunteer for even more work in the Police Department, including courier runs and clerical and professional duties.

• The CVPP is a leader among similar organizations and often assists other patrols in Central Coast communities, so members get to be familiar with other volunteers and their towns.

• Finally, CVPP members can work as often as they like any time, day or night, seven days a week. Patrols are set to accommodate member’s schedules.

What is NIXLE ???? The city of Paso Robles is launching a new community information service designed to deliver

important and timely information to local residents using a technology service created by the company Nixle, LLC.

• The free service, which is currently being used for the broadcast of police and fire information, is now available for residents.

• Residents receive trustworthy and important neighborhood-level public safety and community event notifications by Web, e-mail and cell phone.

• Nixle is a tool that allows for direct communication with our residents when it is needed most. In cases of emergency, police and fire services must be able to communicate important information to community members.

• Nixle What is Nixle?

•PRPD officials described Nixle as a "community information service provider built exclusively to provide secure and reliable communications and "the first authenticated and secure service that connects municipal agencies and community organizations to residents in real time." Nixle has secured a partnership with the International Justice and Public Safety Network), allowing local police departments nationwide to send immediate alerts and advisories. Nixle is privately funded with offices in New Jersey and California. The service is free to all governments, their agencies and organizations, nongovernmental organizations and consumers, according to PRPD.
