o This is called the jump strategy.

o e.g. 35 + 23 can be thought of as

35 + 20 + 3 to give 58.

Apply the jump strategy and use the

Hundred board to show the thinking

added first and then the ones are

added, e.g.

o jump 2 tens to 55

o jump 3 ones to 58.

Complete the following worksheets o Adding on a Hundred’s chart

chart on Wednesday), can also be shown on a number line.

Watch this video to explain. (First Half)

Jump strategy explained: 56+24

Draw a number line. Begin with your biggest number. Divide the second number into tens and ones. Add the tens column first; 56 + 20 = 86; then add the ones column 86 + 4 = 90

+10 +10 +10 +1 +1 +1 +1

56 66 76 86 87 88 89 90

So: 56 + 24 = 90

Complete the following Jump Strategy worksheet (addition) by drawing your own number lines. (Sheet 17)

Fabulous Fitness for Everyone Choose your own adventure

Choose one (or more if you like) to complete each day. Work to your own fitness level. Smile and have FUN.

Week 4

Throw Tennis

Create a small court either indoors or outdoors with a “net” in the middle. Players must

underarm throw the ball to land in the court on the opponent’s side of the net. The other player must catch the ball after one bounce and return

the ball from where they caught it.

The aim is to win the point by making your opponent miss the catch. You will also win the

point if your opponent throws the ball out or into the net.

Broom Hockey

Set up a small field either indoors or outdoors with

two goals. Play 1 v 1 or 2 v 2.

Kids challenge mum and dad to a game and see who wins bragging rights. (Parents you may like to

increase the stakes and offer a night off washing up or other jobs for the winners)
