    A Publisher’s Perspective

    Joe Riley, North Star Editions

The Publisher’s Perspective: Revenue + Discovery

  • Who is North Star Editions?

North Star Editions is a publishing company dedicated to guiding readers toward a lifetime love of reading. NSE offers fiction and nonfiction for

readers of all ages that inspires, informs, and entertains. We were founded on July 1, 2016.

We have two imprints and one imprint we are the exclusive distributor…

    About North Star Editions

  • What do we publish and distribute?

    ● NSE purchased the young adult imprint Flux from Llewellyn Worldwide on J uly 1, 2016.

    ● NSE also acquired the assets of J olly Fish Press, a Utah-based publisher of young adult, middle-grade fiction, and adult fiction, on November 1, 2016.

    ● NSE is also the exclusive distributor for Focus Readers imprint nonfiction school and library books and eBooks.

    Publishing and Distribution

  • Why did we decide to add our books to Ebooks Minnesota? In July of 2016 we were approached to add our Flux titles to Ebooks Minnesota.

How did we decide to become part of this program?● We wanted increased exposure and use of our backlist eBooks

    ● We wanted to drive awareness of North Star Editions and our recent acquisition of the Flux imprint-which is a well-known YA Fiction imprint

    ● We wanted to drive incremental revenue for the backlist tiles in our Flux imprint and raise awareness of our books to a set of readers who may not have been exposed to our titles

Becoming a part of Ebooks Minnesota

  • What did we not include?

    ● We did not include any books that were published in the Fall 2015 or Spring 2016 to preserve the initial digital revenue potential for these books across all markets

Becoming a part of Ebooks Minnesota

  • What are our plans going forward? We plan to continue to work with Ebooks Minnesota and plan to offer:

    ● The Fall 2015 Flux titles

    ● The J olly Fish Press titles published prior to 2015

    ● The Focus Reader titles we released in J anuary 2017
