TOGETHER, WE CAN END STROKE

Caring for a loved one who’s suffered a stroke isn't easy. Sometimes you could use advice from someone who’s had similar experiences or find resources that support both the caregiver and survivor.

At the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, we know that stroke recovery can be

difficult and confusing. That’s why, this month and throughout the year, we’re helping caregivers navigate the recovery process and the financial and social implications that often comes when a loved one or friend

has a stroke.

With this toolkit, our community can learn about stroke recovery, how to communicate with the healthcare team, manage the effects of stroke, emotional support and financial resources.

MESSAGE 1: WE ARE WITH YOU ON YOUR RECOVERY JOURNEY. The American Stroke Association offers resources both caregivers and survivors can use on their journey to recovery. Find valuable information on stroke prevention, treatment and recovery. Share this infographic with your family, friends and community. For additional resources visit StrokeAssociation.org/CaregiversMonth.

One person’s stroke involves the whole family. That’s why rehab

decisions should involve them as well. Our stroke rehab resources explain how family members can

help make sure the rehab program fits the needs of the patient and family caregivers,

too.

This month and throughout the year, the American Stroke

Association is providing our community with tools to make

navigate the stroke journey easier. Share our recovery infographic

that highlights key resources for both caregivers and patients.

Caring for a loved one who’s suffered a stroke isn't easy. Sometimes you could use a little advice from someone who’s had similar experiences. Or you’d like to share what you’ve learned with others. Or maybe you just need to know you’re not in this alone. The American Heart

Association/American Stroke Association’s Support Network is for you.

MESSAGE 3: STROKE SURVIVORS FACE CHALLENGES. SO DO CAREGIVERS. When you’re caring for someone who survived a stroke, you’ll need support too. That’s why the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association offers a unique network that connects caregivers and stroke survivors. We encourage you

to visit our Support Network to reach out to people who can understand and share your experiences. Visit the Support Network today.

MESSAGE 4: STROKE RECOVERY. DON'T GO AT IT ALONE. If you have been touched by stroke, we offer two companions to take along on the recovery journey. One is our stroke rehab resources to help you navigate decisions about rehab facilities and services. The other is our Support Network, an online community that connect you with fellow stroke survivors and caregivers. Find more resources at StrokeAssociation.Org/CaregiversMonth.

MESSAGE 5: IT'S TIME TO SHOW CAREGIVERS HOW MUCH WE CARE This one’s for you, caregivers. You may have lonely days and long to-do lists while caring for someone who has had a stroke. But know that you’re appreciated. For more information, visit StrokeAssociation.Org/CaregiversMonth.
