Caroline Moore, Administrator of Wraggs Seafoods, is running the Leeds 10k ‘Run For All’ for the eighth year running in July. The first event was held in June 2007 and was a fantastic success attracting 8,000 participants, which is truly remarkable for a new event of this type, and raising a staggering £500,000+ for charities and good causes. Inspired by Jane Tomlinson whose efforts also raised over £1,850,000 for charities including Macmillan Cancer Relief, SPARKS, Damon Runyon Cancer Research, Yorkshire Cancer Centre, Martin House Hospice, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and Hannah House. The annual event is now part of Jane’s legacy to continue to fundraise for children’s and cancer charities.

Wraggs Seafoods is always looking for new opportunities to supply its top quality sustainably sourced Frozen at Sea Fish to suppliers in West Yorkshire and the Midlands. More recently we have started delivering to Derby and Skegness. If you know of any businesses in these areas, let us know and we are sure we can make you a deal worth thinking about.

Industry News - blog “ Not eating enough f ish” UK fish consumptionFish is a superfood packed with vitamins and

minerals. It is a major source of omega-3,

fatty acids and can help to protect against

a range of diseases including heart disease

and arthritis. So why is the UK a nation of

dwindling fish eaters?

A healthy diet should include at least two portions of fish a week but only 28% of people fulfil this.

Given the number of cookery programmes

filmed in exotic locations extolling the

virtues of eating fish you wouldn’t think this

would be the case. There is the myth that fish

is difficult to cook, which puts people off, but

can this really be the reason?

Research has suggested that if the cost of

fish was cheaper, more people would eat it.

However if you are buying good quality fish

which has been sustainably sourced the costs

generally reflect this, and are not as high as

people may perceive.

Amazingly, over 50% of people think that

frozen fish destroys the nutrients in the fish

and that fresh fish are more environmentally

friendly. This couldn’t be further from the

truth.

At Wraggs Seafoods we only provide quality

Frozen-at-Sea Fish, meaning that the fish is

frozen within 2 – 6 hours of being caught.

This traps the nutrients in the fish, enabling

it to stay as fresh as the moment it left the

sea, so our customers receive the very best

product.

All of our fish is also fully traceable to its

source and we work with only reputable

industry leaders in the field.

Believe it or not fish from your local fish &

chip shop does count towards your two

portions of fish a week, so you can head to

your local shop supplied by Wraggs Seafoods

safe in the knowledge that the fish you are

eating is the most fresh, healthy and

sustainable there is.
