ITEMS OF INTEREST

We CAN make a difference! Give Green products a try for laundry, cleaning, and dishwashing.

PACKAGES AT THE CLOCKTOWER: Due to the limited amount of space at the Clocktower, please try to pick up your boxes within the same day that you receive a call/email. A NOTE ABOUT THE COURIER FROM KAREN CHENEY: I never expected to hear that the decision to not stuff the boxes with the Courier, would have created so many conversations on the resident listserv! I do regret that I made the decision the same week as posting the notice – poor decision on my part. To confirm, anyone who wants a paper copy may have one. You don’t need to print out your own

copy if you get a copy via email, if you don’t want to. If you want a paper copy, rather than pick it up from your message box, pick up a copy from the table. We will keep a supply readily available and no, you don’t need to wait for Vern or Bianca to print it out. All residents in the health center are receiving paper copies. I’m always available if you have a question or concern. [email protected] or x5023. EASY LISTENING WITH JANYCE WATT, WEDNESDAYS, 4:30 – IVY LOUNGE: Janyce is taking a hiatus from playing in the Ivy Lounge. She will be lending a helping hand to her church for a few weeks! AVOID SCAM PHONE CALLS: Callers may claim to be from Apple Support or Microsoft but they are just trying to get your money or control of your computer. Never take direction from unknown callers and never give out personal information or money. Many of these calls seem very legitimate but they are FAKE. STOP THE SPREAD! If you are under a doctor's care for the flu or pneumonia, there is delivery service available to bring meals to you. Let's try to stop the spread of these diseases in the community. A LETTER TO CLARITA: My dear, sweet Clarita, I know your one-woman exhibit is now down, but not before scores of your fellow residents had the pleasure of enjoying the beauty you created! The fastidiousness with which you work is absolutely remarkable. You prove time and again that older adults still have what it takes. I echo son Andrew’s suggestion that you bring a portion of your work to our family museum. We would be better off for it, and the Brandywine Valley residents would enjoy your work as much as the Collington residents did. With great affection, N.C. Wyeth

"The appreciative clamor may cease! There follows the text of the poignant and fabulous narration by Marilyn Haskel of her “favorite things” as delivered in last Wednesday’s The Sound of Musicale:

My Favorite Things (for Seniors) Botox and nose drops and needles for knitting, Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings, Bundles of magazines tied up in string, These are a few of my favorite things. Cadillacs and cataracts, hearing aids, glasses, Polident, Fixodent & false teeth in glasses, Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings, These are a few of my favorite things. When the pipes leak, When the bones creak, When the knees go bad, I simply remember my favorite things, And then I don't feel so bad. Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions, No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions, Bathrobes and heating pads, hot meals they bring, These are a few of my favorite things. Back pain, confused brains and no need for sinnin', Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin', And we won't mention our short shrunken frames, When we remember our favorite things. When the joints ache, when the hips break, When the eyes grow dim, Then I remember the great life I've had, And then I don't feel so bad.
