Step 1 – Using curves I changed the brightness/contrast of the picture so that the person and back-round would each individually stand out.

Step 2 – Inserting the masthead. The SL was inserted using the T (writing tool), I then changed the colour of each letter, one white and the other blue, I used white because it stands out on the back-round and the blue because it matches the girl’s top.

Step 3 – After putting in the masthead I entered the rest of the writing, using the same colours as the masthead, blue and white. I then wrote in the articles a little later. Then I used a barcode to give the cover a more realistic look. I also watch the left third to make sure I made it bright attractive to the reader and kept all the writing in line.

Step 4 – To get the magazine look I used some lines to create a skyline. I wrote it out in bright yellow to stand out, this was my second attempt of a skyline the first idea I tried was using a yellow strip with blue writing on top, but it didn’t produce as good a look.

Step 5 – Double clicking on the writing layers I wanted to edit, brings up an effect called layer style, using this it enabled me to add shadow to my writing or just a border, these effects have made my writing stand out of the page, which is how my magazine would attract a reader using the idea of left third.
