The First year students and Arts Club of Vidya Academy of Science and Technology Technical

Campus, Kilimanoor has organized an online Arts Festival on 28th

of May 2021.The registration of

Day1 (14-05-2021 to 19-05-2021)– Registration

Registration of the events commences on 14th

May, 2021. Department registration were

monitored first year staff advisors. A total of 135 registered. From 135 entries, 118 videos

were collected by the registration committee.

Day 2-(20/05/2021- 22/05/2021) – Screening

A screening committee were formed with senior staff members and senior students. Based on

the marks from screening committee, 36 videos were finally selected for arts festival

Day 3 –(28/05/2021)- Arts

The inaugural function started at 3.00 PM. The function started with wishes and prayers from

Writer Zara Joseph and Cine Actor Ajmal Zain. The inaugural function started with prayer

for seeking the blessings from the almighty. After the prayer Felicitation by our Principal ,

Dr.T.Mathavaraj Ravikumar , Our Project director , all HODs. By 3.15 PM , we started the

cultural programmes. After the completion of cultural events followed by vote of thanks by

Create an Online platform for our students to boast their talents and the aim was successfully

concluded.

WEBINAR ON HOW TO APPROACH RESEARCH JOURNALS

ELECTA, The Association of Electronics & Communication Engineering VAST TC

organized an online webinar on “HOW TO APPROACH RESEARCH JOURNALS” on

5th May 2021 from 2.00PM to 3.30PM at Zoom platform for all the students of ECE

department, VAST TC. Dr. Muhammed Anshad P. Y (Asst.Prof- ECE) coordinated and

Dr. Neethu Raj R (HoD in charge - ECE)was the convener of the program.

Mr. Navin K. S, Engineer, Quinoid Business Solutions was the resource person. He

discussed the topic from the scratch and gave the guidance to write a journal. His talk

mainly focused on

How to search and download Research journals.

How to read journal in the right way.

How to use references for improving the level of understanding.

How journals help in Research.

How to write a journal.

The overall session benefited all the participants. There were 98 active participants.

This webinar helped the participants to do their own project works and can write

their journals.

WEBINAR ON MY STARTUP STORY

The IEDC VAST-TC conducted a Chat Session on “MY STARTUP STORY” for

all the students of VAST-TC. Hareesh Kumar R (S8 ECE) and Siji Lal S (S6 CE)

coordinated the program and Dr. Muhammed Anshad P. Y (Asst. Prof-ECE) was the

convener of the program. There were a total of 219 active participants.

Mr. Abhi Asok, CEO and Founder Director of Arvension Technologies LLP handled

the session. He is an Entrepreneur and Research Enthusiast. He presented his startup story to

the students. He discussed his professional experiences in his business and how to overcome

the issues during startup. The main topics covered were:

● What is start-up?

● Idea generation.

● Leading and building a team.

● Understand the market.

● Marketing.

● Investment.

Later he made an interactive section with the students. The overall session benefited the

faculty members and students. This webinar would help the participants to understand the

basic things about how to start a startup.

Webinar on “PLC for Industrial Automation”

The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized a webinar on, “PLC for

Industrial Automation” on 8th

May, 2021.The webinar was handled by Dr. G Joselin

Rethna Kumar, Professor, SRM Deemed University, Certified Trainer Bosch Rexroth,

IASC Master Trainer, Dr. M C John Wiselin (HoD-EEE) inaugurated the webinar. The

webinar was coordinated by Mr. Ranjith M (Asst. Prof- EEE). Ms. Lekshmi Devi R (Asst.

Prof- EEE) delivered the welcome address. The webinar was conducted in “Google Meet”

online platform.Total 45 participants including all faculty members and students of EEE

Department of our college attended the session. Speaker talked about industrial automation,

effects of automation etc. Earlier PLC industries, used relay based controller system. The relay based

system wiring is completely hard wired that increases the complexity of wiring. But PLC has the

advantage of compact structure, and less wiring of control panel. Hence PLC has eliminated much of

the hard ware over the conventional relay circuits.

WEBINAR ON KICK START YOUR STARTUP

The IEDC VAST TC conducted an IEDC orientation program on “KICK START YOUR

STARTUP” for all the students of VAST-TC. Vinay V A (S8 ME) and Abhaynath K

from( S6 CSE ) coordinated the program. Dr. Muhammed Anshad P Y, Nodal officer,

(Asst.Prof- ECE) was the convener of the program. There were a total of 121 active

participants. Mr. Sonu J S, CEO and Founder of Starting Trouble handled the session. He is

also an Entrepreneur and Research Enthusiast.The Speaker of the Session Mr. Sonu J S

presented the keynote address on “KICK START YOUR STARTUP”. On the day of the

program, the speaker introduced IEDC and KSUM to the students, and how KSUM helps

students to come up and develop their ideas into products. He also discussed his professional

experiences in the IEDC. Topics covered under the program are:

● Whats is IEDC?

● What is KSUM?

● What is start-up?

● How IEDC and KSUM funds innovative ideas and projects?

● Importance of IEDC in colleges.

● How students are benefited from IEDC?

● How to improve public speaking?

The feedback on the session was collected from the participants. The overall session

benefited the faculty members and students. This webinar would help the participants to

conduct the classes in an effective way and also it would help them in their research work.

WEBINAR ON “EMBEDDED SYSTEM DESIGN AND

DEVELOPMENT”

The Electrical and Electronics Department of VAST-TC conducted a webinar on

Embedded System Design and Development for EEE students on 22nd

May 2021 from

10.00am to 11:30 am via Google meet. The speaker of the event was Mr. Renjith

Gopalakrishnan, (Assistant Professor, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, College of

Engineering Perumon). Ms. Lekshmi Devi R (Asst.Prof-EEE) welcomed all the

participants.The speaker explained about the Basic Embedded System Concepts, introduction

to embedded system, communication interface, major levels of abstraction in the design

process, embedded firm wire design and development, and he also gave an idea about

automatic hand sanitizer design and its development by using this embedded system.At the

end of the session, Ms Lekshmi Devi R (Asst Prof- EEE) delivered the vote of thanks. The

event concluded at 11.30am. The event was co-ordinated by Ms Sajina S (Asst Prof- EEE)

and Ms Lekshmi Devi R, (Asst. prof- EEE). Total of about 64 participants attended the

program and we got very encouraging responses through their feedback.

WEBINAR ON CAREER OPENINGS FOR CIVIL ENGINEERS IN

PUBLIC SECTOR

The Department of Civil Engineering conducted a webinar on „Career openings for Civil

Engineers in Public sector‟ for final year B.Tech Civil Engineering students on 23th

May

2021. The webinar was organized by Mr. Lenin Babu S, (Asst. Prof-CE) along with the

support of the faculty members in Department of Civil Engineering under the guidance of

Prof. Vijayakumar K, (HoD, CE). The webinar was handled by Ms. Pavithra V, Corporate

Relations Manager Civilianz. The webinar was hosted in Google meet platform. This career

exploration program provides final year civil engineering B Tech students with opportunities

to help them define their individual career direction and future pathways. It intends to let the

students know that exploring career options is not a confusion but an opportunity hunt. This

webinar briefly discussed about the career openings through GATE exam. Graduate Aptitude

Test in Engineering (GATE) is one of the most competitive examinations which primarily

tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and

science. The GATE score of a candidate reflects the relative performance level of a

candidate. The score is used for admissions to various Postgraduate programmes (M.Tech,

ME, M. Arch and Ph.D) and also used by several Public Sector Undertakings for recruiting

graduate engineers in entry level positions. About 53 students participated in this webinar.A

feedback form was collected to evaluate the effectiveness of the webinar session and positive

responses were mostly recorded. This webinar created an enlightenment in the minds of

students about the future openings in Public Sector Undertakings.

INTER COLLEGE WEBINAR ON MACHINE LEARNING

The ELECTA, Association of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department

conducted an inter college webinar on “MACHINE LEARNING: CURRENT AND

FUTURE TRENDS”. Dr. Sujith Mangalath, Researcher in the field of Machine Learning,

Graph Networks, Risk Assessment and Disaster Management, Georgia, US delivered the

lecture.Ms. Divyamol N J (S8 ECE), Mr. Jithesh Jayakumar (S8 ECE)and Mr. Dawn

Sivan (Asst.Prof-ECE) coordinated the program. Dr. Neethu Raj R (HoD in Charge-

ECE), convener of the program.There were a total of 194 active participants. The feedback

about the session was collected from all the participants to improve the sessions that will be

conducted in the mere future. The objective of the webinar was achieved. The overall session

discussion benefitted the faculties and students. This webinar would help the participants to

conduct the classes in an effective way and also it would help them to do their

implementation in research work.

A logo competition was conducted for ELECTA Association for Electronics and

Communication Engineering department. A total of 20 entries were received for the same.

The department of Applied Science in association with Science club have conducted a Digital

Poster presentation competition on 22nd

May,2021 related to International Biodiversity day

for the first year students, under the theme “We‟re part of the solution # For Nature” Ms.

ANCHU E S, (Asst.Prof-AS) was the coordinator of the programme.

THE SELECTION PROCEDURE

The competition witnessed an overwhelming participation of students from all branches and

received a total of 81 posters with outstanding quality and creativity. From these, the judging

panel Ms. Abitha A S (Asst.Prof-AS), Ms.Vigitha Vidhyadhar (Asst.Prof-AS) and

Ms.Anchu E S(Asst.Prof-AS)]selected the following students as the winners

have an inquisitive mind towards environment and its priceless species. The whole hearted

support from all the staff of Applied Science Department and the active participation from

students of all departments made the programme a success one. Also, from the beginning to

the end of the event, the extended support and cooperation from various Department HoD‟s

and staff advisors is gratefully acknowledged here.

FAREWELL FUNCTION & EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

SELECTION FOR 2021 -2022

The NSS Unit at Vidya Academy of Science and Technology Technical Campus has selected

a new team of executive committee members for the academic year 2021 - 2022. The new

team was selected during the online farewell function organized by the NSS volunteers, on

28.05.2021 from 6 p. m. to 7:30 p. m. via the online platform Google Meet, to bid farewell

to the senior NSS batch (2019 – 2020 and 2020 - 2021). The senior batch handed over their

posts to the new members of the exective committee in the presence of the programme

officer Mr. Lenin Babu (Asst. Prof – CE) and assistant programme officer Ms. Rini

Madhavan Rajeev (Asst. Prof – CE). The farewell function started with an Introduction

Session by Ms. Sandra (S4 CSE), prayer by Ms. Adheena (S4 CE), welcome speech by

Ms. Devika (S4 CE). This was followed by casual speech by the programme officers, Mr.

Lenin Babu and Ms. Rini Madhavan Rajeev, other volunteers of the senior batch

including the former volunteer secretaries Ms. Mariyath Yousaf (S6 CE), Ms. Pavithra

(S6 CSE), Mr. Ameen Jafar (S6 CE) and Mr. Sajay S (S6 ECE). The vote of thanks was

delivered by Mr. Subeesh (S4 ECE). The new team members are:

Ms. Liji Ramesan Santhi,(Asst.Prof-EEE) welcomed all the participants. Dr M C John

Wiselin (HOD-EEE) inaugurated the program. After the welcome speech the session was

hand over to the resource person Ms. Lekshmi Devi R. The speaker explained about the

various job sectors in Electrical Engineering, job roles and key qualities expected from an

electrical engineer. Career opportunities in both government and private sector was discussed

in detail.At the end of the session Ms. Liji Ramesan Santhi, (Asst Professor EEE) delivered

the vote of thanks. The event concluded at 11.30am. The event was successfully co-ordinated

by Ms. Liji Ramesan Santhi (Assistant Professor EEE).A total of about 54 participants

attended the program and we got very encouraging responses through their positive feedback.

WEBINAR ON “MATLAB”

The Electrical and Electronics Department of VAST-TC conducted a webinar on

MATLAB for EEE students on 29th

May , 2021 from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm via Google meet.

The speaker of the event was Mr. Gitin Jacob George, Masters in Industrial Drives and

Control, RIT Kottayam, IEEE Volunteer.Ms. Indhulekha Jayachandran(Asst Prof-

EEE) welcomed all the participants.Dr M C John Wiseline, (HOD- EEE) presented the

Inaugural address. After the Inaugural speech the session was hand over to the resource

person Mr. Gitin Jacob George. The speaker explained about the Basics of MATLAB,

introduction to MATLAB language, to import and visualize data and also explain the basics

of Simulink At the end of the session, Ms Indhulekha Jayachandran (Asst Professor EEE)

delivered the vote of thanks. The event was successfully co-ordinated by Ms Indhulekha

Jayachandran (Asst Professor EEE). Total 40 participants attended the program and we got

very encouraging responses through their feedback.

“Three Day Workshop on PROGRAMMING IN C LANGUAGE”

The ELECTA, Association of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department

conducted a three day workshop on “PROGRAMMING IN C ”. Anjana N and Aswathi V

Nair(Asst .Prof- ECE) coordinated the program. Dr. Neethu Raj R ( HOD-ECE) chaired

convener of the program. There were a total of 115 active Participants. Dr. Muhammed

Anshad P Y (Asst Prof- ECE) , VAST TC delivered the lecture.The speaker of the session

Dr. Muhammed Anshad P Y started with addressing the need of programming in different

fields of engineering. Day 1 focused on the basic concepts and facts about C. Speaker

described how to set up a system environment before the start of doing programming using C

language and introduced online compiler to students so that they can work out the programs

along with the speaker. On the following sessions of day 2 and day 3, the speaker explained

and run live programs on:

Workshop key takeaways:

Chance to develop “C programming concept”.

Idea on basic programming such that students will be capable of explaining flow

of process.

Students upon their interests would be able to practically apply the knowledge and

undertake mini projects.

Students find easy when they have programming subjects in their further

semesters.

Also the feedback about the session was collected from all the participants to improve the

sessions that will be conducted in the mere future. The overall session benefitted students

from different semesters. This workshop helped them to grab a basic idea on programming C

language.

„CAREER COUNSELLING SESSION‟

Vidya Academy of Science and Technology Technical Campus, Kilimanoor organized an

International Webinar on CAREER COUNSELLING: An interactive session with Dr. P. R.

Venkitaraman, as a part of the Vidya Social Outreach Programme (VSOP). The webinar

was intended to address the dramatic changes in Higher Education and career opportunities

(Asst.Prof-CSE), Mr. Lenin Babu (Asst.Prof-CE) and all other faculty and staff members.

There was an overwhelming response for the Webinar from different parts of Kerala, and a

total of 955 people registered and 320 students attended the session. The session started with

welcome address by the principal Dr. T Mathavaraj Ravikumar who invited the

distinguished guest and all the participants. Dr. P. R. Venkitaraman started the session with a

brief introduction about the courses that the students can opt after their higher secondary

education. He answered the queries from the participants and also briefed about courses like

Engineering, Medical and allied sciences, BScNursing, BPharm etc. Queries regarding new

age courses like Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, cyber security etc. were also addressed in

the session and the importance of studying conventional branches for Engineering and

Technological courses were also discussed. The speaker kept the entire session lively and

there was an interactive query and answer session at the end of the webinar, wherein the

attendees raised their questions and the speaker effectively replied to them. The entire session

The NSS Unit of VAST TC organized an online „Mehndi‟ competition for the staff and

of the pandemic Covid - 19, many students and staff from different colleges participated in
