Resources & TipsSmoothies are refreshing, healthy, tasty and just plain ‘ol fun! We have enjoyed getting these recipes together for you. Here are some things to help make your Smoothie-creating easier, tastier and healthier! ~Nikki

Resources:

Blender recommendations:

Vitamix {This is what I use!}Blendtec {This is just as good and it is really up to personal preference!}

Smoothie Staples:

Almond MilkCoconut MilkAlmond ButterDairy Free Cocoa PowderNatural ApplesauceGrade B Maple SyrupRaw HoneySteviaDried Dates

Tips:

Frozen Bananas: Peel them once they are ripe and place them in a gallon size freezer bag. They last a nice amount of time...don’t continue to ripen and go straight from the bag to the blender with no hassle!

A word on sweeteners: When we all say “...or sweetener of choice” we highly

recommend limiting your sweetener selection to the following: raw honey, Grade B Maple Syrup, Stevia, Xylitol, or fruit (such as bananas or dates!).

{Erin @ The Humbled Homemaker}

{5}

Ingredients: Method:

1 cup milk (I use almond but any Starting with the milk, toss all themilk should work.) ingredients into the blender.4 clementines, peeled  I find that placing my liquid closest1 banana (Use a frozen banana to the blade makes for easier blending.for a thicker smoothie.) Blend until smooth, and enjoy!1/8+ cup raw honey 1/2 c. plain Greek yogurt Note: This smoothie contains pulp from1 tsp. vanilla  the orange. If you do not like pulp,handful of ice you can always try straining it.

Orange Creamsicle Smoothie

“Growing up I loved orange creamsicle popsicles! I loved that creamy orange flavor and although I didn't know it at the time, those were just fake flavors. Now, living on real foods for years, I came up with that childhood flavor, just as tasty, but a lot healthier... and NO fake flavors!” ~Rachel

Classic Green Foonie

“My daughter has loved this smoothie since she first started drinking regular fluids as a baby...she could not say smoothie so she always calls it ‘foonie’...we laugh. Anytime I go to use the blender she yells ‘Mommy making green foonie!’ Gotta love how she loves healthy food!” ~Nikki

{21}

Ingredients:

2 cups milk (almond, coconut or dairy)2 stalks celery1/2 cucumber (don’t peel it!)3-4 cups fresh baby spinach2 frozen bananassplash of maple syrup*

Method:

Add milk first. Then add celery, cucumber and 2 cups of spinach. Blend. Add remaining spinach and bananas. Blend for at least a minute to really break down the spinach. Sweeten if necessary. The bananas and cold milk make this plenty cold. If you are using fresh bananas, you may want to add some ice cubes! Serve immediately. Makes about 5 cups.

Note: You can also toss in an extra banana and eliminate any sweetener. I also recommend (in place of maple syrup) fresh dates (pitted), stevia, xylitol or raw honey!
