COFFEE TABLE STYLING

I am such a huge fan of a great coffee table book so for my post today I decided on writing about coffee table styling. When you type this into Pinterest it is clear that most people have similar takes on the coffee table styling. I didn’t realize how much of an art this could be until I actually had my own coffee table. While my last project was more of a rustic industrial home vibe, I was inspired to bring that into just the coffee table. I was thinking of branching into something that I didn’t already create.

While I like to keep my coffee table simple and clean on a regular basis, I definitely change it up based on my mood or the type of guests I will be having over. If I know my guests will be staying a while I clear it off and leave some cute updated magazines, my two candlesticks, a vase with seasonal flowers, some gold foil coasters and something sweet. I think this is also in part because I have a fairly large coffee table. On super special occasions I take out this yellow tray that hides in the pocket of the coffee table and fill it with either yummy hosting snacks or cute table accessories. Think a votive, ceramic animal, or something cool from a trip I collected.

So of course, I set out looking at all my friend’s coffee tables and some of my favorite home styling sites for inspiration. Most people had candles, books or magazines and coasters. Other people had just their mail, TV remotes, and even some candy still left from Halloween. Below I listed some types of objects that could help spice up your coffee table.

Options for styling:-Some greens: keep the season in mind-A tray: this really helps divide up the table-Books or magazines: this helps create height -Some type of storage: be for the remotes, some important notes, etc.-A nice plate or bowl: for keys, this could add color -Seasonal décor: pumpkins for thanksgiving, skull for Halloween-Cute decorative and useful coasters-Mints or candy: especially when guests come over, people love snacks -Anything else: decorative balls, pebbles in vases, glass candle covers

Some people like having one focus item that is larger and then some small surrounding accessories. Other people focus more on having things they use every day like tissues, a candle lighter or even a spot for their keys. I love playing with dimension and height. Stacking big books or magazines helps with this; different size candlesticks could be fun. Some decorative items can be repeated and bought in two sizes. Think: ceramic décor.
