CoE-incubated startup Cradlewise winner of Qualcomm Design in India Challenge (QDIC) 2018In today’s fast-paced world, taking care of a child has become highly demanding and one of the biggest challenges new parents inially face is ensuring the baby has a proper sleep cycle. The rise of nuclear families in India, long working hours and inflexible maternity & paternity leave policies at the workplace has le young parents stressed out and sleepless. This was the reality for Radhika and Bharat Pal, who experienced firsthand the challenges of caring for a newborn when they had their first baby. This led them to develop Cradlewise, an IoT-based cradle, fully loaded with sensors designed to detect a range of movements of the baby and possible anomalies in the cradle. The sensors constantly monitor the child and send updates to the parent on an app. Cradlewise was named as one of the winners of the Qualcomm Design in India Challenge (QDIC) 2018. QDIC is an iniave to support the growth of product startups by providing access to accelerator services, government connecons and support patent filing iniaves. Cradlewise has also received a grant from the Govt of Karnataka, as part of ELEVATE 100. NASSCOM COE-DSAI is building India’s ecosystem in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence by catalyzing innovation through industry collaboration, talent development & lighthouse projects of social & economic impact

Analycs, Data Science, IoT and Arficial Intelligence have the promise of beerment of human lives. AI has the power to assist in improving cizen centric services like improving healthcare, public safety, enhance the efficiency in governance which will lead to public transformaon. With the adopon of emerging technologies like AI, NASSCOM COE-DSAI is commied to bring the benefits of innovaon to make a huge posive societal impact by working closely with Govt, in addressing their real me challenges.

MyGov-Cizen Voice Challenge: MyGov, innovave plaorm to build a partnership between Cizens and Government, interacts with over 8 million users. These interacons primarily in Hindi and other Indic languages are crical in understanding ground-level cizen issues, senments and help enhance parcipave governance on key policy iniaves. However, the magnitude, the complexity, multude of languages of interacons poses a challenge to decipher manually. There were no off-shelf / readily available soluons and the need was an innovaon that catered to Indian Languages leveraging Voice and Speech AI. CoE DSAI curated Cizen Voice Challenge which harnessed the power of AI to bring out automated soluon(s) for the next emerging billions through a voice-first medium, foster their parcipaon in governance and holiscally consume and implement their feedback. The curaon was a 3 stage process that assessed capability, model/algorithms efficiency, scalability and value proposion of 40 innovators in NLP helping idenfy the top 5 innovaons.

Karnataka Forest Department: Revenue from sale of ‘dead’ mber is a major source of revenue for the Karnataka Forest Department. However, there was no predictability on the expected baselines and revenues. Also no insights generated pre/post the sale process. This resulted in loss of opportunity in maximising revenues leading to a beer process of KFD of meeng their objecve of a “Beer Forest”NASSCOM CoE DS-AI helped in addressing this by enabling applicaon of Data Science through “Strategic Consulng” to assess the opmized revenues that needs to be generated. Also developed the landscape for the technical soluons to build the predicve models, assessed the data structures and created an approach for anonymizing data. Knowledge sessions were held for the Innovators with KFD to help understand the domain and business processes.Curated a group of 16 start-ups, out of which 9 parcipated and 5 were selected to the final round of comprehensive innovaon demonstraon to KFD resulng in adopon process of one Innovaon

Karnataka State Polluon Control: KSPCB is responsible to prevent, monitor & abate polluon across Karnataka. The monitoring is being done by mulple vendors using different systems where they give data in different formats and their own visualizaons. With the reporng schedules are also being inconsistent, KSPCB did not have a ‘single’ view by area / locaon across different monitoring staons & elements of Air, Water & Noise. A ‘one’ view is crical for the policy makers to monitor and take correcve acon.CoE DS-AI with KSPCB conducted workshops with its stakeholders and vendors to study the acon plan towards 'One View' and determined the addional data aributes to be tracked along with targeted alert mechanism. It helped with one 'Consistent Visualizaon' for Ambient Air Monitoring, beer ulizaon of KSPCB experts to ensure acon on data.

Floatbot: Bot’s the Way To Smart Governance Successful and efficient governance is when a cizen feels his voice is heard, and his queries resolved. Governing a billion cizens is no mean task, but technology can go a long way in easing this process. Floatbot is one such. The omni-channel customer engagement AI chatbot plaorm allows businesses to create chatbots and float across mulple plaorms in a maer of minutes. The Bangalore-based chatbot plaorm is working with mulple government enes & public ulity companies such as Rajkot Municipal Corporaon, Pune Municipal Corporaon, CESC in addion to corporate enes such as Andhra Bank, Straon Markets and Payworld. You can read more about Floatbot here: https://community.nasscom.in/communities/iot-ai/bots-the-way-for-smart-governance.html

Innovate2Build: In order to catalyze co-innovaon, NASSCOM CoE-DSAI has built a plaorm “Innovate2Build” for enterprises & start-ups to explore opportunies of co-creaon. A use case driven plaorm will connect the soluon seeker with the soluon provider. An enterprise can publish their problem statements along with data or use cases for soluons providers to solve. NASSCOM COE-DSAI has assisted 3 major corporates Firstsource Soluon Ltd, GE Aviaon & Unisys India to expand their capabilies by leveraging the soluons offered by the innovators. Please refer to www.innovate2build.com

BFSI Strategy Innovaon Group: AI is expected to have a far reaching impact on the financial services industry on tradional cost bases. In order to affect change within the industry and catalyse a difference in approaching business challenges, new soluons need to be more economically impacul than the current tradional cost. Now, the me has come to take this burgeoning industry to the next level by leveraging the power of technologies like Arficial Intelligence & Machine Learning. While the innovaon in the BFSI industry right now is largely restricted to chatbots, experts believe that this is just the “p of the iceberg” – and a whole new world of innovaon awaits the new-age customer. In light of accelerang innovaon in BFSI, NASSCOM CoE has formed a Strategy Innovaon Group (SIG) and first roundtable meeng with thought leaders in the BFSI industry was held on 5th March 2019,which focused on mobilizing AI & Fintech start-ups, bridge the gap between problems & soluons, Data Management, Innovaon in other tech like Blockchain & IoT

In connuaon to this, to enable the technology-led innovaon, CoE for Data Science & Arficial Intelligence is organizing “Xperience AI” on 5th July – a plaorm where the innovators will demonstrate how their innovaons / soluons enhances business value and how organizaons can Co-Innovate with these innovators in solving some of the crical business problems.

Co-Innovaon is a new catalysis paradigm for organizaons to differenate & maintain compeve edge. The core of co-innovaon includes engagement, co-creaon & compelling experience for value creaon.
