FESTIVAL CHAIR WELCOME Dear Friends, On behalf of the Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce, the City of Dover, and our dedicated Volunteer Committee, welcome to the 32nd season of the Cochecho Arts Festival! It is my honor to present to you a summer filled with fun, family-friendly events. As you peruse this program, I hope you will become as excited as we are for you to explore all of the artistic talent here in beautiful Dover, NH. This year’s festival kicks off Friday July 6th at the Rotary Arts Pavilion with live music performances by Harsh Armadillo and Ella Beth Vose. For the 7 weeks to follow, there is something for everyone, ranging from the playful Children’s Series to the local Farmers’ Market and dramatic performing arts with Theatre in the Park. If you’re seeking a great way to enjoy an area restaurant and classic film in an intimate courtyard setting, be sure to check out one of the Dinner & Movie nights! For all the music lovers, this year’s Festival boasts performances three nights a week. You can enjoy the 16th year collaborating with Shark in the Park (on Wednesdays!); a new partnership on Thursdays with the Dover Community Band; and our diverse fan-favorite in the Friday Night Headliner Series. My personal recommendation is the “can’t miss” season finale on Friday, August 17th with music performances by A2VT and Kacie Grenon…and perhaps a surprise or two up our sleeve! Also, thanks to our Art Rocks volunteers, there will be plenty of local visual art to enjoy at nearly all festival events. The Cochecho Arts Festival wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of our many individual donors and corporate sponsors. We are fortunate to have built a community which embraces art and culture in a way that allows for enjoyment by all. Whether you volunteer time, sponsor an event, or donate by way of purchasing a Festival Button - I wish to extend sincere thanks to everyone who makes this Festival a success year after year. Enjoy the summer, friends…and welcome to Dover! FESTIVAL COMMITTEE32nd Annual Cochecho Arts Festival

The Cochecho Arts Festival is a committee of the Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce and supported by the local business community, that provides free arts

and entertainment to the Seacoast each summer.

Page 4: Cochecho arts Festival history Festival Chair W elCOMe T · • August 15th – 3:30pm – North River Trio (sponsored by Portsmouth Christian Academy at Dover) • August 15th –

In 2003, the Rotary Club of Dover headed a project to raise funds to reconstruct the

band shell in Henry Law Park. The 18th annual Cochecho Arts Festival opened with a special dedication ceremony of the brand new band shell to be known as the Rotary Arts Pavilion in Henry Law Park located at the corner of Washington Street and Henry Law Park Ave in Dover. The Pavilion has served as the home of Cochecho Arts Festival ever since.

In the spring of 2014, the Rotary Arts Pavilion got a face lift that included pressure washing and repainting the entire structure. This project was scheduled so that it would be completed in time for 2014 festival-goers to enjoy. The minor renovations

were only possible due to the collaborative efforts of local businesses and non-profi ts organizations including the Rotary Club of Dover, Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce, City of Dover, Dover Main Street, Certa Pro Painters of Portsmouth, Granite State Pressure Washing North and Sherwin Williams-Dover.

There are 200 permanent, amphitheater style, seats in surrounding the stage at the Rotary Arts Pavilion. There is additional seating on the grass around and behind the permanent seating.

The Cochecho Arts Festival Committee recommends that you bring something soft on which to sit on the amphitheater seats and encourages you to bring blankets and folding chairs

to the concerts to sit on the grass. General rule of thumb… blankets to the front, chairs in the back. Please keep the area wheelchair accessible.

Restrooms are located in the Dover Indoor Pool Parking Lot, located through the sidewalk tunnel adjacent to the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire.

NOTE: All Cochecho Arts Festival events are at the Rotary Arts Pavilion with the exception of the Portsmouth Christian Academy Farmers Market Stage (Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center at 550 Central Avenue), Theater on the Cochecho (Lower Henry Law Park), and Dinner and a Movie (Cocheco Mill Courtyard).

The Dover Community Band will play its 21st concert season at the Rotary Band Shell in Henry Law on July 5th & 19th, and August 2nd & 16th. The Community Band was founded by Michele Boulanger in 1998 to revive

traditional band music in Dover. The musicians and conductor are all volunteers, and the band survives on passing the hat at concerts to pay for music and supplies. Ages of the participants range from middle school to retirees, with lots of DHS alumni coming back each year to play. So head down to the park to hear the Dover Community Band concerts, dance and sing along to and applaud live music in Dover.
