A current Working with Children check is required. Core Purpose To build a performance culture in Australian Taekwondo. To lead and direct the High Performance system and pathways in Australia. To build and direct a team of Australian Coaches to deliver the National training Program. To work with the Coaches and athletes in Australia, plus the AIS to achieve a sustainable pipeline of high performance athletes and coaches in Australia. Overview Australian Taekwondo (AT) is the official governing body of Taekwondo in Australia. AT is a member of the World Taekwondo Federation, which is the International Federation for the sport, and Kukkiwon, which is the international black belt accreditation authority. The organisation is also an affiliated member of the Australian Olympic Committee and recognised by the Australia Sports Commission as a National Sports Organisation. The AT members include the Member Associations (MAs) of the eight states and territories of Australia. Within this structure there are approximately 350 clubs that provide Taekwondo activities to over 50,000 active participants with 11,000 of these being currently registered members of the organisation. AT provides the strategic and operational framework to assist the MAs and clubs in the provision of Taekwondo services, including high performance pathways, national and state level competitions, accreditation courses for coaches and officials, accreditation of black belts and a national insurance scheme. The Coaching Director will provide leadership for the High Performance program and will support the development of Australian coaches and programming for the high performance athletes. The Coaching Director will also interact with other athletes, coaches and relevant stakeholders to continue to grow and progress the sport.

   Key  Deliverables   To  contribute  to  the  success  of  AT,  the  Coaching  Director  will:    

• Work  with  the  AT  Board,  CEO  and  AIS  to  set  the  direction  for  AT  HP  Strategy  and  relevant  programs  in  relation  to  the  2020  Olympic  Games  and  beyond.  

• Lead  a  team  of  National  and  Club  Coaches  (Coaches)  in  the  planning  and  delivery  of  a  national  and  international  training  and  competition  program  for  Australian  Taekwondo  athletes.  

• Work  closely  with  the  Coaches  and  AIS  to  ensure  the  training,  preparation  and  competition  environment  is  conducive  to  being  ‘world  class’  

• Direct  the  development,  with  the  Coaches  of  individual  annual,  and  longer  term,  development  plans  for  Australian  Taekwondo  Athletes,  including  establishing  progressive  development  and  performance  goals.  

• To  give  training,  guidance  and  in  co-­‐operation  with  the  Coaches  and  AIS  regularly  assess  the  progress  of  each  athlete  in  the  Australian  Taekwondo  Pathway.  

• Work   closely   with   the   Coaches   to   ensure   that   training   and   competition   programs   for  Australian   Taekwondo  athletes,   are  well  managed   and   reflective  of   progressive   athlete  development  needs.  

• Work   closely   with   the   Coaches   and   relevant   organisations   including   the   AIS   to   ensure  that   Australian   Taekwondo   athletes   are   provided   with   an   appropriate   sport   science  support   program   that   reflects   their   customised   development   and   performance  objectives.  

• In  conjunction  with  Coaches  provide  technical  guidance  and  support  to  identify  and  nurture  future  World  Class  athletes.  

• Together  prioritise  resources  towards  achieving  competition  results  and  other  agreed  performance  targets  

• Communicate  with  all  other  Coaches  with  athletes  to  ensure  that  they  are  informed  of  programs/  camps  etc,  and  other  training  opportunities.  

• To  gather,  record  and  log  intelligence  about  progress  and  trends  amongst  leading  athletes  and  nations  in  the  world  to  inform  the  ongoing  development  of  the  performance  strategy  for  Australia.  

• Accurately  analyse  and  translate  performance  data  from  the  Australian  Taekwondo  athletes  into  meaningful  program  opportunities.  

• Monitor  and  review  the  performance  of  the  Australian  Taekwondo  Program  against  the  agreed  annual  targets  and  milestones  and  contribute  towards  the  ongoing  development  of  the  program.

 • In  cooperation  with  the  AIS  and  AT,  provide  mentoring  support  and  create  education  and  

training  opportunities  for  the  Coaches  or  referees  as  requested  (Coach  and  Referee  Education  system).  

• Ensure  the  content  of  the  Coach  and  Referee  Education  system  is  aligned  to  and  informed  by  the  Australian  Taekwondo  Program.  

• Travel  with  the  Australian  Taekwondo  athletes  as  Coaching  Director  for  all  international  competitions  and  training  camps.  

• Provide  feedback  to  the  AT  CEO,  AT  Board,  AIS  and  Coaches  on  the  performance  and  development  of  Australian  Taekwondo  athletes  for  selection  and  other  purposes.  

• Contribute  to  and/or  prepare  reports  for  the  AT  Board  and  CEO  and  other  relevant  stakeholders  (e.g.  AIS,  ASC,  AOC)  on  a  monthly  basis  and  as  required.  

• Participate  in  Australia’s  Winning  Edge  (AWE)  categorization  as  a  member  of  the  AWE  Panel,  as  required.  

• Oversee  the  behavior  of  all  Australian  Team  athletes  and  coaches,  and  escalate/  address  inappropriate  behavior  in  a  timely  manner.    

• Undertaking  other  duties   as   required.

athletes.  • Ability  to  communicate  and  co-­‐operate  with  other  coaches  of  National  athletes.
