Sport Solent Watersports Centre is located on the Warsash Campus, wich is at the mouth of the River Hamble.

The Centre, which is RYA recognised, delivers practical courses in dinghy and keelboat sailing and powerboating. In addition, it also offers RYA theory courses in Navigation, First Aid and VHF radio.

Sport Solent Watersports Centre offers a wide range of courses from beginner up to Instructor levels, and these courses are available to both students and public alike. For further information, or to book on any of the courses please e-mail [email protected]

Candidate appeals procedure

If you wish to appeal against the outcome of an assessment conducted by an assessor employed or contracted by us, you must do so within 14 days of receiving the assessment decision and are advised to keep copies of all documents relating to the assessment against which you are appealing.

Stage 1

• Make a verbal appeal to the assessor who made the original assessment decision, at this stage the assessor may explain the decision to your satisfaction.• On receipt of your appeal the assessor will record an overview and log the outcome of the discussion, this will be kept by Sport Solent.• If after making this appeal you are still dissatisfi ed with the outcome please go to stage 2.

Stage 2

• Please put your appeal in writing within 14 days of the stage 1 process to the centre’s key contact. Details of which can be found at the end of this page.• Please give a detailed account of your grievance and provide appropriate supporting documentation if required.

If you have a complaint about your course, our customer service or the behaviour or performance of an employee, you should follow the stages below in an attempt to seek a satisfactory resolution of your complaint. Please read all the suggested stages below and decide which is most appropriate for the nature of your complaint.

Stage 1• Make an informal complaint to your tutor, the tutor will aim to agree a way forward or a solution that is acceptable to both parties.• Please allow the tutor suffi cient time to investigate your complaint. • At the end of this time we hope that an amicable solution will have been found to your concerns.• If it has not been resolved you are encouraged to progress to stage 2.

Stage 2 • If the initial complaint cannot be resolved informally via the stage 1 process, or if you do not consider it appropriate to discuss the issue informally, the complaint should be submitted in writing to the centre’s key contact. Details of which can be found on page 32.• In your written complaint you are encouraged to give a detailed account of your grievance and provide copies of appropriate supporting documentation if required.• We will acknowledge, in writing, all written complaints within 5 working days and outline the course of action that we will be taking. • We will carry out an investigation of your complaint and write to you within one calendar month and a decision and appropriate action to be taken.• If your complaint is found to be justifi ed we may offer recompense based on the nature of the complaint.• We are required to retain records of all complaints for a minimum of two years. • If you are not able to fi nd a satisfactory resolution to your complaint you should proceed to stage 3.

Stage 3If you have followed stage 1-2 of this complaints procedure and are still dissatisfi ed with the outcome, you have the right to take your complaint to the course awarding body – you will be supplied with these details.
