We started off in the Drafting Room. Sketching single view and multi-view drawings on the drafting boards. We watched a movie about how drafting works and how to do it correctly.

Page 3: CO2 Car Presentation

We got to see a bunch of CO2 Cars that other students did years back to get ideas for our cars. We got to take some of the ideas from the cars and put them on our. Everyone’s was different and unique.

•Sketching using graph paper•Orthographic projection which separates the views such as top, front, and right side.•Drawing of the CO2 design on graph paper

I chose this design because I wanted to be different. I didn’t think that anybody had done anything like this before.

Safety glasses are a major part in this class. You have to have your safety glasses on at all times while you are in the shop area. They are also a major part of your grade. If you don’t have them one day your grade drops. So you have to have safety glasses. VERY IMPORTANT!!

Stuck the cut out designs on our cars with glue.We used a power saw to cut out our designs to make our designs come to life.

We used 40 to 80 grit sandpaper, various files, and the dremel tools with the specialty bits.

I chose to use green and black, both from the company Krylon, because I wanted to have my car represent the Monster decals. The Monster colors are green and black so I thought that they were perfect for my car.

Putting the eyelits on the bottom of your car are for making sure your car stays on the track when you are racing. The straws go in the wholes where you drill your holes for you wheels. Then the axles go in the straws to prevent friction when racing. Then the wheels go on.

•Place the CO2 cartridge in the hole in the back of your car.•When you are ready to race. Place the string through the eyelits so it stays on the track. The track is long and it has two different lanes so two cars can race. Once the count down is done the cars take off. It only takes a second to get to the end. The track has a motion sensor so when the cars cross the finish line you can see the times at the starting line.

When calculating Speed & Time:Time/Weight=Time Per Grams

For example my time was 1.713 and my weight was 163.5. So….

1.713/163.5=0.010477 spg

Throughout this class I learned a lot. I learned a lot about drafting and how to draw different things in different ways. I had a lot of fun making the CO2 Cars and putting them together. My favorite part of the class was being in the shop, seeing my drawing come to life as a real life CO2 Car. And making your car personal and interesting. Everyone has there own perspectives, thoughts, and ideas on how they want them to look, that’s what makes them all unique and interesting in their own way.
