Addresses by the keynote speaker, student speaker and university president will highlight the ceremony. Diplomas will be distributed at department diploma ceremonies. See pages 3 and 4 for a schedule.
• Tickets are not issued and there is no limit on the number of guests a student may bring. Seating is first come, first served.
• Caps and gowns are required. • The ceremony lasts approximately 90 minutes and will
take place outdoors rain or shine. The stadium is not covered and there is no shade. Please plan your attire accordingly. In the case of rain, complimentary ponchos will be distributed and the ceremony may be shortened.
• If you or a family member cannot be in the direct sunlight or heat for a long period of time, we strongly encourage you to watch the ceremony from one of our indoor simulcast locations in the Cohon University Center:• Au Bon Pain, second floor• Kirr Commons, first floor• McConomy Auditorium, first floor• Studio Theater, first floor• Wiegand Gym, first floor

There you’ll find answers to all your commencement questions, lists of campus eateries and local restaurants, walking and driving directions to off-campus diploma ceremonies, maps and other information that will make your visit to the university and Pittsburgh a pleasant one.
TRAVEL & TRANSPORTATION
CMU is located in the Oakland area of the city, 22 miles from the Pittsburgh International Airport.
Shuttle service is available between the airport, downtown Pittsburgh and Oakland. Visit supershuttle.com.
Bus service (28X Airport Flyer) runs between the airport, downtown Pittsburgh and Oakland. Visit portauthority.org or call 412-442-2000.
Rental cars and taxis are available at the airport. Ride sharing services are permitted.

Over commencement weekend, free parking will be available in the following locations. See map on page 9 for exact locations. Please note that parking on campus is limited.

Please be advised that Margaret Morrison Street will be closed on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. to accommodate the diploma ceremony shuttles. See page 8 for more details.

ELDERLY & SPECIAL NEEDS GUESTS
The main commencement ceremony takes place outdoors in Gesling Stadium, rain or shine. The stadium is not covered and there is no shade.
If you or a family member cannot be in the direct sunlight or heat for a long period of time, we strongly encourage you to watch the ceremony from one of our indoor simulcast locations on the first floor of the Cohon University Center:
• Wiegand Gym• Kirr Commons• McConomy Auditorium
All campus buildings and Gesling Stadium are handicap accessible.
Campus parking lots/garages are also handicap accessible. On Sunday, the first floor of the East Campus Garage will be reserved for special needs guests. No prior arrangements are necessary.
Seating sections for guests with special needs will be available on the field in Gesling Stadium. These seats are reserved for those guests who are in wheelchairs, who have difficulty with stairs and cannot access the bleacher seating or those guests who have special needs. Up to three guests are permitted to sit with a special needs guest in these sections. Sign language interpreters will also be stationed here. Tickets or prior arrangements are not needed; seating is first come, first served.
Closed captioning will be projected onto the screens in Gesling Stadium.
A limited number of wheelchairs will be available to rent while on campus on Sunday. Delivery to your home or hotel is also available. For reservations, two-day rentals or hotel/home delivery, call Pittsburgh Wheelchair Exchange at 412-241-5121.
At the conclusion of the main commencement ceremony and until 6 p.m., wheelchair-accessible shuttles will be available to transport special needs guests to and from off-campus diploma ceremonies (except Heinz Field/Entertainment Technology Center) and to more distant campus locations, as needed. The pick-up location is the service courtyard of the Cohon University Center, near the East Campus Garage. See map on page 9.

POST CEREMONY EXIT ROUTES
Please determine where you need to go after the ceremony and follow the appropriate exit route, regardless of whether you are seated on the field or in the bleachers.
See map on page 9 for details.

If you are taking the shuttle to an off-campus diploma ceremony, exit the stadium using the ramp on the southeast side, near Resnik House. The shuttles will be lined up along Margaret Morrison Street.

If you are attending an on-campus diploma ceremony or need to get to ANY building on campus, including the Cohon University Center, exit the stadium using the staircase on the southwest side, near West Wing. Proceed through the courtyard and turn right onto the sidewalk. Enter the Cohon University Center through Merson Courtyard or continue down the sidewalk to other campus buildings.
= Wheelchair Ramp and Exit to Wheelchair- Accessible ShuttleA wheelchair ramp is located on the northwest side of Gesling Stadium.
At the conclusion of the main commencement ceremony and until 6 p.m., wheelchair-accessible shuttles will be available to transport special needs guests to and from off-campus diploma ceremonies (except Heinz Field/Entertainment Technology Center) and to more distant campus locations, as needed. The pick-up location is the service courtyard of the Cohon University Center, near the East Campus Garage. See map on page 9.
After the CeremonyOFF-CAMPUS DIPLOMA CEREMONY SHUTTLES
Sunday, May 21 ONLY12:30 – 6 p.m.
Shuttles will run continuously between campus and all off-campus diploma ceremonies (except Heinz Field/ Entertainment Technology Center and Rodef Shalom/Information Networking Institute).
The pick-up location is on Margaret Morrison Street. All shuttles will run on the same loop and operate until 6 p.m.
Order of Stops:
1. Carnegie Music Hall — School of Computer Science
2. Mellon Institute — Chemistry
3. Joint Stop: The Twentieth Century Club — Materials Science & Engineering
Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall — Bachelor’s Business Administration & Economics
4. Petersen Events Center — Electrical & Computer Engineering
5. Winchester Thurston School — Statistics
6. Phipps Conservatory — Mathematical Sciences Reception (The shuttle to the Mathematical Sciences Reception starts at 2 p.m.; pick-up location is near Forbes and Morewood Avenues.) Upon returning to campus, the drop-off location is near the corner of Forbes and Morewood Avenues.
