celebrated “World Tourism Day” as Tourists
cum Citizen Security Day on September 26
at ITFT College Campus at Vill. Hoshirpur,PGI-Mullanpur road, Distt. Mohali. The day
marked cultural events performed by the
students of ITFT College. They performed
dances on the tunes of Bollywood songs,
Bhangra dances and also Russian and
Mexico dances performed by foreign faculty
of the institute, Ms. Natasha from Russia &
Ms. Rozy from Mexico. There was a quiz
contest as well declamation contest on the
topic of “Emerging Trends in Security
Services”

chief guest, said that the security of the
tourists is central to the growth of tourist
industry, which can contribute considerably
to the economy of the state as well as
country.

Chandigarh Management Association (CMA) organised
today a seminar here today on the subject “Seven
Principles of Supply Chain Management” at ICFAI Business
School, S.A.S.Nagar as a part of its monthly lecture series.
The seminar was jointly organised with British Library.
The key speaker on the seminar was Dr. Cedwyn Fernandes
of Middlesex University Dubai. Speaking on the occasion,
Dr. Cedwyn said that businesses are now examining every
area of their supply chain to reduce costs, reduce waste
and shorten time span to reach to the final customers. He
said, Companies that want to get ahead of the curve and
stay there need to begin thinking how to develop an
approach to sourcing and supplying the goods that factors
this new reality into their plans. He said, in India the
biggest hurdle in making the supply chain effective is the
poor and uncertain logistics for movement of the goods.
Dr. Cedwyn further said that Environmental issues are now
becoming important to the public and the companies arenow looking as to how they can make their supply chains
greener. Elaborating, he said that packaging materials are
used every day in almost every company that

manufactures and sells products. As the public's
perception about the environment changes, companies
must look at greener packaging alternatives in their
supply chain to satisfy consumers.
Earlier, Col. Karamjeet Singh (Retd.) while welcoming the
key speaker said that CMA is devoted to the cause of professional management and would try to bring various
experts to talk on emerging concepts of management for
the benefit of industry and trade.
Sad demise of Dr. S.P.Singh, Past President of CMA
Dr. S.P.Singh, Past President of CMA, former chairman of University Business School, Chandigarh
and a mentor of Aryan Business School has passed away on 01 October, 2009 after a prolonged
illness. Dr. Singh will be remembered for his gentlemanliness, lucidity in spoken expression; an
exponent of various management doctrines, philosopher and friend of many. His demise is a
great loss to the management fraternity in general and CMA in particular. Let us pray for his soul
to rest in peace and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.

Glimpses of World Tourism Day Celebrates at ITFT College Campus
thCMA is celeberating Dhanvantri Day on 15 October. Sh Satish Chandra, IAS, Hon'ble Secretary
Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Punjab. The event is being sponsored by ITFT College.
Ayurveda is a spiritual science in itself. It is believed that Ayurveda, as a branch of the Vedas, is astream of the knowledge passed down from generation to generation since eternity, much in
the same way as Vedic literature and the Vedic scriptures were.
Lord Dhanvantari is known as the father of Ayurveda, since he was the first divine incarnation
to impart its wisdom amongst humans.
Birth day celebration of Lord Dhanvantari, the God of health, healing and cure, is celebrated
with great enthusiasm and happy environment, by the practitioners of the Ayurveda every
year, on Dhan Teras, two days before Deepwali.
