The establishment o a world class Cloud orientated service delivery model enables clients to deliver IT

services at high speed, at lowest possible cost, with an experience that matches customer needs and

suits their budgets. In order to develop a Service delivery model, CloudFX clients pursue the ollowing

our sequential (but probably overlapping) steps to achieve this end goal:

1_Consolidate the dierent layers o the

inrastructure (network, hardware and sotware) by

standardizing on a single networking technology, a

common set o processing platorms and common

set o utility sotware and management tools.

2_Virtualize the inrastructure by bringing

in Virtualization technologies at each o the

component layers o inrastructure: network,

processing platorms and sotware. This creates

three pools o virtualized resources that can be

turned up and down on demand. Virtualization

enables IT to deliver services on demand as

a sotware conguration rather than needing

physically to install inrastructure and equipment,

which can take weeks or months to provision.

Processing platorms can similarly be virtualized

using hypervisor technology, allowing a rack o

physical servers to be sliced into a much larger

number o virtual servers supporting many more

applications.

3_Converge the inrastructure, converging and

layering all the components in the advanced

service delivery inrastructure so that they can

be managed seamlessly together as one virtual

pool o resources. Since the dierent layers

know about each other, when a virtual instance

o an application, and/or virtual server needs to

be turned up, spun up or moved to a less busy

physical processing platorm to handle a spike

in user demand, the network can automatically

provide the appropriate level o connectivity.

4_ Scale the inrastructure so that it can support

the volume and range o services each customer

needs; or example, to support private virtual

copies o the same services or millions o

single users and groups belonging to dierent

organizations, distributed across tens o thousands

o virtual servers in multiple dierent geographies.

how long it takes to acquire and deploy new third party services or to enhance existing services with

third party assets; the cost o delivering, supporting and managing each service; the relative complexity
