clinical leadership & management courses for keele sas ...€¦ · the keele sas doctors’...
TRANSCRIPT
Our Keele courses are run over three days and are intended for Specialty Trainees in their penultimate or final years of training; trainees at an earlier stage may also be interested. They are also open to SAS doctors wishing to prepare for a consultant position. Courses are specialty-based and satisfy the curriculum requirements for acquiring management and leadership skills to complete training. Our courses will prepare participants for the transition from training to independent specialist practice at consultant level, introducing them to contemporary concepts of leadership and management, as well as offering insights into the consultant appointment process. The sessions are themed and linked to the new Healthcare Leadership Model. The programme design includes interactive presentations from policy experts, personal development consultants and other senior people experienced in the particularly specialty.
This two-day programme is intended for SAS Doctors who wish to extend their understanding of clinical management and leadership as part of their professional development. The overall aim of the course is to provide understanding of clinical management and leadership in today’s healthcare system, and to equip participants with knowledge, skills and attributes to enable them to be more effective in their roles. The course design includes a mixture of interactive talks from policy experts, personal development consultants and senior clinicians, and small group activities. The sessions are themed and linked to the new Healthcare Leadership Model: they include understanding current DH policy and how the NHS operates, developing yourself as a leader and an introduction to some useful management tools for developing and leading services.
