Climbing, and in fact anything done at the extremes, has a way of showing

us how big and vast our possibilities are, and at the same time reminding

us that we are mere specs on the planet. As we dangle from our finger

tips, or surf on a fast, turbulent river, or rappel into a deepening void, the

worry of danger is left for those not on our adventure. We possess

instead a daunting sense of awesomeness – awesome surroundings,

awesome space, and awesome power.

There is a similar sense of awe and responsibility at the prospect of

developing products that keep people safe in these exciting and

sometimes epic spaces. It stirs the inventive soul of our whole company.

And, it keeps us humble.

We are constantly drawn to the edge of creativity and technology, while

standing solidly on the ground of quality and care. At Sterling Rope, we

love what we do and take pride in how we do it. We’re Mainers;

craftsmen and women, outdoor enthusiasts who climb, rappel, paddle,

sail, fish, hike, ski, board and surf. We design the products we make, and

we make the products we use. And because we want you to have the

best adventures of your life when you use our products, we make the

best products for life-safety.

As with all great Maine traditions, ours starts with an adventure and ends

with a story. For almost twenty years now, people who have used our

ropes, cord and gear to explore, work or train in the vertical world have

told the Sterling Story. It is a story of innovative rope constructions and

creative new products that handle superbly and offer unparalleled

durability. It’s the story of taking people to places they didn’t know they

could go, and bringing them home again. It’s Sterling Ropes: the best

story in life-safety.

Only Sterling dynamic ropes have the unique feature, DryCore™,as standard construction. DryCore is our innovative and proprietaryprocess of treating the core yarns to reduce yarn-on-yarn abrasionand moisture absorption. The core provides the strength andpower of your rope. If your rope gets wet, it loses critical strengthand elongation will increase. In fact, tests have shown that a wetrope without DryCore can lose up to 30% of its strength. Sterlingropes with DryCore stay strong.

Sterling Rope spent years researching and testing various coatings andprocesses to greatly improve our rope dry treatment. The result was thedevelopment of DryCoat™, our own proprietary coating and dry process.Studies have shown that wet ropes are more difficult to handle, elongation increases and their performance can change dramatically.DryCoat protects the rope from water absorption, keeping your ropestrong, eliminating weight increase, the risk of freezing, and slowing thewear of rope considerably.

Indoor climbing gyms and artificial walls present a difficultchallenge for rope. Not only is there high volume of use, impactfrom falls, and constant lowering, but there are also manydifferent wall surfaces, angles and anchoring systems that play apart in rope wear. As the first to the market a gym specificdynamic rope, we have witnessed the evolution from plywoodwalls and chain anchors to modular textured surfaces and 80-ftroutes. Because of our experience here, our gym ropeconstructions feature more yarn in the sheath for added durabilityand are designed to stay supple and perform well.

Slim Gym™ 10.1mmSlim Gym is the ultimate in thindiameter, durable gym rope. Onindoor routes, the 10.1 diametermakes this rope slide effortlesslythrough protection and over anchors, while still being easily managed in avariety of belay devices.

Sterling’s HTP, High Tenacity Polyester, ropes are 100% polyesterand offer significant advantages over mixed fiber static ropes.HTP delivers better overall performance having high strength, and extremely low stretch. With less stretch, the HTP is a highlyefficient rope for ascension, rigging, wet rappels and high anglerescue situations. Polyester also has a natural resistance tomoisture, UV and certain chemicals making it less conductive toelectricity and able to perform better in areas of harshenvironments than mixed fiber ropes.

Warning: HTP should never be used in situations where anypotential for shock loading (fall) may occur. It will result in veryhigh impact forces. In these situations, a nylon static or dynamicrope would be more appropriate.

7/16” (11mm)9mm 3/8” (10mm) The 9mm is a lightweight static ropewith high strength and very lowelongation. This makes it versatile inany number of situations such as lightand fast haul systems, canyoneeringrappel lines, anchors and rigging.

The efficient size of the 3/8” offers thestrength and durability of a largerdiameter with the supreme handlingcharacteristics that you’ve come toexpect from the HTP series. The 3/8” HTPis great for demanding activities likejugging, building z-drags and Tyroleans.

Our 7/16” HTP is engineered to providethe utmost performance, lowest stretch, and best durability in a variety of verticalsituations. When you need a highstrength, ultra low elongation rope forheavy rigging and high tension systems, the 7/16” HTP will deliver.

Sterling Rope was the first rope company to offer sewn prusiks, and since their inception, we have continued to expand oursewn cord product line. Sewn cord and prusiks offer a sleek, lowprofile alternative to cords with knots, which can becumbersome and bulky. Sterling has invested greatly over theyears in modern computerized sewing machines that optimizebar tacking to be consistent and of high strength and quality.Sewn bar tacks on rope and cord are stronger than knotsbecause rope-on-rope friction and bending of the fibers areeliminated. Sterling offers many different types of sewn cord, prusiks and lanyards in multiple lengths to expand your safetyoptions in the vertical world.

We offer sewn terminations on cord sizes from 5mm up through9mm, and on rope up to 5/8” diameters. Our products aretested in-house using 3-Sigma calculations and are also certifiedby third-party authorized organizations to the applicablestandards.
