Safety Oversight of Nepal

ICAO conducted Safety Oversight of Nepal in 5 to 14 May 2009 and identified Effective Implementation (EI) of ICAO safety standards and guidance as 43 percentICAO Coordinated Validation Mission (ICVM) carried out in 10-16 July 2013 and identified effective implementation of ICAO Safety Standards as 55 percentICVM identified a Significant Safety Concern (SSC) in the area of aircraft operations

International AirportCurrently there is only one airport with international operations: Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.

Regional Hub AirportsThese four regional airports are Biratnagar, Pokhara, Bhairahawa and Nepalgunj

Other Domestic AirportsThe remainders of airports only have regular flights to a Regional airport mostly on charter basis. Most of these airports are categorized as STOL airfields.
