March 31, 2016 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The City of Shreveport (City) is beginning a Sanitary Sewer Assessment (SSA) in various locations throughout its Wallace, Broadmoor, and Cooper Road Sub-Basins (See attached map). The SSA work will be performed by the City’s Contractor, Compliance EnviroSystems, LLC (CES) and will be administered and supervised by the City’s Consultant, Burk-Kleinpeter, Inc. (BKI). As a part of the Consent Decree, this work will be used to identify and assess defects in sewer pipe segments and manholes. Evaluation of the identified defects will then be used to prioritize the repairs needed throughout the City’s sewer system. CES field personnel will be conducting a variety of tests including, but not limited to, cleaning, closed circuit television (CCTV), and smoke testing lines and inspecting manholes throughout the limits of the project. The public will see extensive smoke testing coming from the vent stacks on houses and from the ground. The smoke is nontoxic, non-staining, has no odor, white to gray in color, and creates no fire hazard; a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) is available upon request. CES field personnel will be accessing the sewer system at sewer manholes throughout the project. They will be operating from City streets and may temporarily inconvenience traffic. There will be no need for field personnel to enter houses or businesses. All field personnel will be in uniform and will have visible identification badges issued by the City. All CES vehicles will be clearly identified. This work will generally be conducted from 07:00-18:00 (7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) on weekdays and will be ongoing through the next fourteen (14) months.
