EDUCATION – Lake Nona/UCF at Sanford Burnham, June 25:

Deborah German, M.D.Vice President for Medical Affairs and Dean, UCF College of Medicine

Dr. German was appointed Founding Dean of the University of Central Florida College of Medicine in December 2006. In July 2010, UCF President John C. Hitt named Dr. German to the new position of Vice President for Medical Affairs for the university. As

Dean, Dr. German leads the development of the new medical college comprised of the M.D. program and the Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences. In her role as vice president, she oversees the college’s medical practice plan and coordinates other medical initiatives.

Dr. German earned her undergraduate degree in chemistry from Boston University and her M.D. degree from Harvard Medical School. She was previously Associate Dean of Medical Education at Duke University Medical School while maintaining her own private practice of Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. In 1988 she joined Vanderbilt University as Associate Dean for Students and later Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education. She served on the Board of Trustees for the Tennessee Medical Association and chaired the Tennessee Board of Directors for the Arthritis Foundation. She also served as President and Chief Executive Officer of St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. In 2005, she joined the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) in Washington, D.C. as a Petersdorf Scholar in Residence.

Mark Hayes leads the education initiative for Lake Nona Institute serving as the founding Chairman and member of the Lake Nona Medical City Education Council and serves as the Program Director of education at the Lake Nona Institute.

Mark’s role is to facilitate and execute the education mission of Lake Nona by creating a Collaborative Learning Environment where schools, homes, businesses and the partners of Medical City are connected in a culture of collaboration, sharing in the responsibility for inspiring our learners of tomorrow. Mark has been a strategic consultant for the Tavistock Group for over 10 years working on initiatives in real estate, economic development and education. Soni JiandaniSenior Vice PresidentMarketingInsieme Networks, Inc.

Soni Jiandani is currently the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Insieme Networks, Inc. Insieme Networks is building next generation data center solutions and is a majority-owned subsidiary of Cisco. Prior to Insieme, Soni was the Senior Vice President for the Server Access Virtualization Technology Group at Cisco. In this capacity, she was responsible for the development and implementation of the Cisco-wide strategy for data center access and virtualization solutions including Unified Computing System and Unified Fabric (Nexus portfolio).

Soni was previously co-founder and Senior Vice President of Marketing and Partnerships for Nuova Systems. She was responsible for the development and implementation of marketing, technology partnerships and sales strategy programs for this data center transformation focused start-up.

While at Cisco, she has played key roles in creating and executing strategic initiatives and driving product marketing development in the LAN switching arena. She was Vice President and General Manager of Cisco’s LAN and SAN switching business unit within the Data Center, Switching and Wireless Technology Group. In this capacity, she was responsible for the industry leading Catalyst modular switches and a comprehensive portfolio of intelligent MDS SAN switches.

Soni also served as Vice President of Marketing for the Cisco Internet Systems Business Unit and Vice President, Marketing for the Workgroup Business Unit. Her contributions enabled Cisco to secure its leadership position in Ethernet LAN switching.

Prior to her tenure at Cisco, she was a marketing executive at UB Networks where she was responsible for Virtual LANs and LAN switching market development. She also took on a sales role as Regional Manager, developing markets for the company in India. Prior to UB Networks, she drove numerous market development programs at Novell.

Soni holds a B.S. degree in Computer Science from London University in England.

Prasad Dorbala is Vice President of Network Transformation at SunGard Availability Services, where he is responsible for identifying and building strategy for entering key growth markets in software defined networks, security and analytics. Dorbala has more than 2o years of engineering experience in the broadband networking, cable and telecommunications industries. Travis Ewert is Vice President, Network Technology, and has worked in the industry since 1992 and with tw telecom since 2004. Mr. Ewert currently has responsibility for Technology Architecture and Standards, Centralized Security, and Network Management System development and support for the company. Prior to tw telecom, Mr. Ewert has held Operations, Engineering, Marketing, and Technology leadership responsibilities. Previously, Mr. McCorey served as Vice President Global Infrastructure for IBM and 17 years at Circuit City Stores with the last two years as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. Bill graduated from West Virginia State College in 1982 with a degree in Accounting. He has spent the bulk of his technology career in retail with a focus on eCommerce, Infrastructure and large scale applications development.

Mr. McCorey has 3 children, Bill III, 30; Lauren, 26; and Drew, 15. He is an avid supporter in local and national efforts. Bill was recently added to the board for United Cerebral Palsy of Central Florida. He previously served as Vice President of Big Brothers Big Sisters in Richmond, Virginia. Bill also formed a fund raising effort for Fanconi Anemia which has resulted in over $130,000 raised for research.
