    CIntroductionThe Circle W Ranch is located in North Central Oregon. The North border of

    the ranch runs along the banks of the John Day River near the town of Spray,

    Oregon. The Circle W offers complete privacy, luxury homes, and is your own

    private hunting ranch. The ranch is comprised of 11,614+ contiguous deeded

    acres, many of which the current owners have taken from range land to excellent

    grazing ground for both cattle operations and the abundant wildlife found on the

    ranch. The property includes dramatic river canyons that hold quail and chucker

    and vast open grazing ground that supports the cattle, deer and elk that roam the

    private blocked upper portion of the ranch.

  • Location The ranch is located in North Central Oregon, between the towns of Spray and Kimberly. The area supports a variety of agriculture and cattle ranches as well as orchards and recreation. This part of Oregon is known for the

    excellent deer and elk hunting and the trout, bass and steelhead that are caught from the John Day River. Spray, Oregon is approximately 259 miles from Boise, ID, 118 miles from Bend, OR, 102 miles from Redmond, OR, where the commercial

    airport is located and 204 miles from Portland, OR.

  • TThe ranch has first class improvements, the barns, sheds, shop and cattle facilities are in excellent condition and convenient for working the fields and livestock. The managers home and the two owners homes overlook the river and production ground. The irrigated ground under piv-ots is fenced with eight foot high wire and metal posts to keep the deer and elk out of the hay fields.The ranch property starts at approximately 1,800 foot elevation and includes dramatic river canyons that give way to the vast open upper acreage of the ranch. This acreage is approximately 4,500 foot in eleva-tion and is comprised of draws, with pine and juniper trees and flows into the sage brush and grass ground that sup-ports cattle and the many wildlife that roam the property. The upper portion is perimeter fenced as well as interior fenced for pasture separation and controlled grazing for cattle. Abundant stock water is available from 15 to 20 stock tanks, and seven ponds that are spring fed. The improved range ground, approximately, 3,000+ acres has been improved by removing the juniper and sage and planting with a dry land grass mix that has greatly improved the feed for both cattle and wildlife on the ranch. Excellent roads make it easy to access the pasture and water sources.The ranch is surrounded by private land and the John Day River run-ning along the North border. 239+ acres of water rights are included in the ranch and consists of water from the John Day River, at no fee to the property. Fishing is excellent and includes yearly runs of steelhead and abundant bass and trout. The ranch has four plus miles of river frontage to take advantage of the fishing as well as rafting and boating.

    Acreage

    This recreation ranch consists of 11,614+ contiguous deeded acres, with three of the

    homes and the hay production ground located near the banks of the John Day River, which is

    the North border of the ranch.

  • Operation

    The ranch has been operated as a cow calf operation and as a pasturing of yearlings; currently the owners are leasing the grazing for approximately 1,000 yearlings. In the past the ranch has supported 350 mother cows and produced 1,000 tons of hay. Currently the ranch grazes the production ground and has not put up hay for the past couple of years.The ranch irrigated ground is watered with five Valley brand pivots, three full circles and two half circles. Five wheel lines are used to irrigate some of the smaller plots.

  • Climate The area is semi-arid with four seasons and approximately 13.5 inches of precipitation a year. The average high temperature in July is 91 degrees; the average low in January is 21.6 degrees. The upper portion of the ranch

    is approximately 4,500 foot elevation and will have some snow in the winter months, usually December through February.

  • Recreation

    The ranch has excellent deer and elk hunting. The upper ranch is a large block of fenced land consisting of 11,000+ acres and provides a safe and private habitat for the wildlife. The ranch has six Land owner preference tags available, and the hunting unit has abundant tags available for additional hunting. Fishing on the John Day River is very good with a well know run of steelhead and the bass fishing in the summer months is very good. The river offers opportunities for rafting and boating as well as water fowl and the beauty of the rifles and runs.     is a 5,604 sqft, 6 bedrooms, 5 baths home built in

    2011. One owner’s home is a 4,626 sqft Northwest

    lodge style 4 bedroom, 6 bath, built in 2008. The

    second owner’s home is a 3,316 square foot

    custom log home, 3 bedrooms and 4 baths built

    in 2011. The last home is a remodeled home used

    for summer help and part time employees, it is

    1,848 sqft, 3 bedroom, 1 bath.
