Capacity Management Information System Tool

2. Introduction:

Capacity Management Information System (CMIS) tool is used to create central repository of

capacity reports and creation of workflow to address the action items (threshold breached

devices like network, voice and server) assigned to the respective domain teams (Network,

Voice and Server team).

3. Benefits of the tool

This tool would help in reducing the man hours spent by capacity management team, location

Network, Voice and Server Team for consolidating the data from multiple excel files and arriving

at capacity analysis, mitigation control and action tracker. It will act as a single platform for

tracking all the device utilization (i.e. Network, Voice, Server).

6. Business Process flow

7. Process Flow Description:

Domain Team(Network/Voice/Server) uploads utilization report CTB (Capacity

Threshold Breached) ticket generated from the tool, if threshold of device is breached

two consecutive time Capacity Management team reviews the CTB ticket Assigns

Domain Engineer for a ticket Domain Engineer takes action CTB ticket again comes

back to Capacity Management team for final review Capacity management team can

perform actions on the ticket like ‘On Hold’, ‘User to Clarify’ or ‘Close’.

User to login with Enterprise ID& password using the below URL. URL: https://cmis.accenture.com/

On Selection of region, user will be navigated to the home screen.

On the Home page, User can navigate to multiple sections:

Upload Capacity Reports – Allows users (domain and capacity management team) to

upload device utilization report.

Threshold Breached Tracker – Helps the capacity team members to take actions and

keep a track on generated CTB (Capacity Threshold Breached) ticket.

Reports – Allows the Capacity Management team to generate raw and graphical

reports.

Admin – Allows the admin user (capacity team) to maintain master data for facilities and

engineers.

User Manual – Provides the user with a guide to use the tool.

Upload Capacity Reports:

This section will have three sub section – Network, Device, Server device.

User (Domain Team) will select their respective device type and download the template

in the local system.

User will have to fill the template with relevant data. Column headers highlighted with

yellow color are mandatory.

User then needs to upload the same template (with same file name) in the tool.

All fields marked with Red Asterisk (*) are mandatory fields.

On successful upload of template, user will get a confirmation message for the same.

Post upload of template, user can click on ‘Preview’ option to view/edit the uploaded

data for the current week.

Threshold Breached Tracker:

User to click & fill Software Details

This section has different sub menus available for different teams.

Domain team will have ‘Pending Capacity Management team

Capacity team will see a list of CTB (Capacity Threshold Breached) ticket with details for

each ticket.

On click of that, a pop window will open which will show all the parameters for that

device. All the fields will be greyed out except the Remarks, status, incident number,

change request number, assignee.

Once the details are filled, submit the form.

Reports:

This section will only be visible to Admin (Capacity Management team) and will be

hidden for domain team.

This section has two sub sections: Raw report and Graphical reports. User can generate

the raw and graphical report based on the device type selected. Under each report type

device types can be selected

Admin:

This section will only be visible to Capacity management team and will be hidden for

domain team.

This section will have two sub menus: Add/Update Facility, Add/Update Engineer detail

Under Add/Update Engineer details, we have multiple options to add IT lead, server

lead, network lead, voice lead.

The user can view the list of facilities, can update a facility name and can make a facility

active or inactive. Only active facilities will be shown in the drop downs of all the

screens.
