Commonwealth-Asia Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs (CAAYE)Nov 30, 2011

The Commonwealth-Asia Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs Meeting was organized by theConfederation of Indian Industrys Young Indians (CII-Yi) in association with Commonwealth YouthProgramme, Asia Centre, India in New Delhi on 15 & 16 November 2011. The Alliance recognizesthat young entrepreneurs are the catalyst of economic growth, job creation, innovation andsocietal change. The Members of the Alliance, recognize the need to bring together organizationsfrom economies of the Commonwealth-Asia region to champion the cause of youngentrepreneurs.

The Members of the Alliance committed to a long term engagement of the Alliance as anextension of their national organizations mission to nurture young entrepreneurs in the respectivecountries, in the Commonwealth Asia region and across the globe. Through this movement, thealliance believes we can make the 21st century the Century of Young Entrepreneurs.

Dr Rahul Mirchandani, Chairman, Partnerships & International Relations, Young Indianswhen asked to speak on the alliance creation and Charter signing, stated that "We have madeHistory in India today. The signing of this Charter that creates the Commonwealth-Asia Alliance ofYoung Entrepreneurs symbolizes the start of a unique journey where young entrepreneurs beginthe process of engaging continuously with government, policy in makers and each other to shapepolicy that will be an enabler to support youth entrepreneurship in the Region. The process ofdialogue to form this historic alliance over the past months has revealed remarkable consensusamongst all member countries and Alliance organisations on the issues that require intervention.These are access to finance, regulation, entrepreneurship culture building, seamless informationsharing, mentorship, advisory and support services. With the signing of this Alliance, CII's YoungIndians is connected through the G20 and Commonwealth Young Entrepreneur Alliances to 28youth organisations in the world's most powerful and emerging economies."The Members of the Commonwealth-Asia Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs have set forth thefollowing Charter:

What is CAAYE comprised of? The Commonwealth-Asia Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs (CAAYE) is a network of youngentrepreneurs and the organizations that support them. They have been established tocontinually promote the cause of young entrepreneurs in our respective countries. The CAAYEwill convene each year and in advance of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting &relevant Commonwealth Ministerial forums to provide a platform to present a un ited voice ofyoung entrepreneurs.Belief of CAAYE

The signatories of this Charter believe in strengthening, advocating and supporting the dreams ofyoung entrepreneurs.

Mission of CAAYE

The signatories of this Charter, have a mission to create and sustain a recognized body that existsas part of the official Commonwealth process and is able to engage, contribute to and impact thework of the Commonwealth to raise awareness and address the issues of young entrepreneurs.

The CAAYEs mission is to be:

(1) a network that, through its engagement with governments, the media, the public, all relevantstakeholders and member organizations, champions the cause of young entrepreneurs at thelocal, national, regional and international level.

(2) an alliance of organizations from economies of the Commonwealth-Asia region that makesmeasurable progress towards development of entrepreneurship to ensure future prosperity.
