NOTE: The calculation of wind pressures in your textbook is based on ASCE 7-05. In this class, we have discussed the ASCE 7-10 wind provisions. Thus, DO NOT use the ASCE 7-05 importance factor,  I , in your calculations. 1. Problem 2.8 of your textbook. 2. Problem 2.11 of your textbook. Note that the C  p  coefficients in Table P2.11 of your textbook are the same as those found in Table 27.4-1 of ASCE 7-10. 3. Problem 2.12 of your textbook. 4. Problem 2.14 of your textbook. 5. Problem 2.15 of your textbook. 6. An enclosed office building is located in a region with a basic wind speed of 120 mph. The exposure is C and the building is on flat terrain. The building has plan dimensions of 50’ x 90’ and an elevation of 22’. The roof is flat. The building has a period of vibration of 0.30 s. The design spectral accelerations at the site are S DS =0.25g and S D1  = 0.05g. Seismic effective weights are 250 k and 150 k for the second floor and roof, respectively. The lateral load resisting system corresponds to ordinary reinforced masonry shear walls. Determine: a) The wind pressures applied to the windward and leeward surfaces and the net forces applied to the building in each direction.  b) The seismic base shear in each direction.
