FAST & ABSTINENCE
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory daysof fasting and abstinence for Catholics. In addition,Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence.
The law of abstinence requires a Catholic 14 yearsof age until death to abstain from eating meat on Fri-days in honor of the Passion of Jesus on Good Friday.
The law of fasting requires a Catholic from the 18thbirthday to the 59th birthday, to reduce the amount offood eaten from normal. The Church defines this asone meal a day, and two smaller meals which if addedtogether would not exceed the main meal in quantity. No snacks or eating between meals allowed.Such fasting is obligatory on Ash Wednesday andGood Friday.
Those who are excused from fast or abstinence, be-sides those outside the age limits: the sick, the frail,pregnant or nursing women according to need formeat or nourishment.

na Butelkę dla Niemowlaka. Zebrane pieniądze
będą przeznaczone na wsparcie Centrum Życia na
Long Island. Centrum Życia udziela porad kobietom
oraz mężczyznom znajdującym się w trudnej sytu-
acji w związku z nieplanowaną ciążą.
Centrum oferuje: bezpłatne testy ciążowe, miejsce
do zamieszkania dla matek z dziećmi (spełniają-
cych wymagane warunki), opiekę medyczną, skie-
rowania, foteliki samochodowe, pieluszki oraz
wszystkie inne potrzebne artykuły dla niemowląt.
Podczas weekendu 10-11 lutego prosimy o
zabranie ze sobą po Mszy św. jednej z butelek dla
niemowlaków i złożenie do niej donacji (prosimy o
wystawianie czeków na The Life Center of L.I.).
