The American Red Cross is asking for healthy individuals to step up to help patients experiencing health crises by donating blood or platelets. As COVID-19 continues to affect everyday life, people may not be thinking about blood donation. But blood and platelets are needed daily to help patients battling disease and facing the unexpected. Donating blood is an easy way to care for each other and ensure hospitals have the blood products patients rely on. As a thank-you for helping ensure a stable blood supply, all who come to give blood or platelets May 15- 31 will receive a special Red Cross “We’re all in this together” T-shirt, by mail, while supplies last. Donors must have a valid email address on file to claim their T-shirt. Healthy individuals who are feeling well are asked to make an appointment to donate this May by downloading the free Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, calling 1 800 RED CROSS (1 800 733-2767) or enabling the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device. Donors are asked to schedule an appointment prior to arriving at the drive and are required to wear a face covering or mask while at the drive, in alignment with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention public guidance. Each Red Cross blood drive and donation center follows the highest standards of safety and infection control, and additional precautions – including social distancing and face coverings for donors and staff – have been implemented to safeguard donors, volunteers and employees. The Red Cross is also looking for blood drive hosts to help ensure a stable blood supply. Learn more and sign up to sponsor a drive by visiting RedCrossBlood.org/HostADrive. It is the little things in life, right? They can either bring you joy, or many times the little things are what get to you. Living in closed quarters these days may not seem like a little inconvenience anymore and our spirits and our good attitudes may be waning. How do we combat this? It may sound trite, but we must learn to count our blessings, take deep breaths and maybe sometimes we need to let out a good yell of frustration to get it out of our systems. We all have showers we can stand in and just belt out a frustration song! We are here at PARTNERS to listen and we try to have good strong shoulders. We would love to visit with you and we are trying to call as many of our elderly as we can think of to just cheer you on as you fight the good fight! A shoutout to our senior class graduating this spring! It is so fun to see their pictures on the street signs all over town. What a great idea! Your class will be one of resilience and one in the history books for sure. Congratulations on your achievements! We are still actively delivering groceries that we order from Service Food on a bi-weekly basis, so the next order to go in would be Thursday, May 21st to be delivered on Friday the 22nd. Call your order in here at PARTNERS -867-1234. Also, if you are getting tired of your own cooking we would be glad to deliver a meal to you from any of the eating places here in town, or if you catch us on the right day, a volunteer could pick up something from a restaurant in Fergus Falls or Barnesville. Our regular schedule is still on hold and our main concern is to keep everyone as safe as possible by following the CDC guidelines. We are here to serve! Let us! This includes the rebate of the County portion of the property taxes as well as the City portion of the taxes in select communities (currently, Fergus Falls, Henning, New York Mills, Ottertail, Parkers Prairie, Pelican Rapids, Perham and Vergas) for up to five years. There is a wide range of available choices from rural acreage to new subdivisions in communities. Information and an application for the tax rebate program can be found online at bigbuildotc.com.
